We do appreciate the scenic views, but allegedly, there are also practical reasons. It’s one of the most realistic places in town to practice rope rescue, and if we ever need these skills for real, I’d rather our crews have done it a hundred times before.

Had an absolute blast at the FDH Summer Soakdown yesterday. Wicked glad so many people came out, got soaked, hung out and made it such a good time. Honestly means a lot seeing the city come together like that. All you who came made it so good.

No, because in a genuinely dangerous heatwave FDH operations shift into crisis management. At that point we’re focused on heat illness calls, welfare checks, staffing EMS resources and keeping people out of the heat where possible, not organising outdoor community events.

I can and do stand by it, actually. It’s Louisiana. Folk are already melting before summer even officially starts. This is a fun community event that’s been planned for months and we fully intend to run it and have fun. If it’s not your thing, that’s alright too. Nobody’s forcing anybody to come.
