In my experience people are way more comfortable about their food tastes, because it's so core to existence (not despite). Their attachment is so strong that criticism feels irrelevant and can be easily dismissed. Movie/game/music taste is less fundamental so there's more to get defensive about

Even the "good" City Connection ports have issues that dont get mentioned, like Under Defeat only having replays for stage practice and not full runs. They have input lag handled now but curious if they have the ability / desire to fix issues like these

Starting work on DOJ 1-round. Went into a fugue state and somehow grinded Hibachi for 6 hours yesterday.. Got a 2-miss for the first time. Getting 4-miss fairly consistently. If anyone sees optimizations besides "dodge washing machine better" I'm all ears www.youtube.com/shorts/wmxN8...

Got an Under Defeat 1-all but didn't record it... I thought the port had replays but apparently it's only for practice mode?? Very odd. Also can't decide if I love this game or hate it. A lot of my time was spent trying to figure out where the hitbox is. The final boss is also an absolute troll

Have to agree about Kubo. I found the voice acting out of place (Charlize Theron sounds like she's yelling from across the room) and overall it like a pastiche of Japanese exoticism from a Western perspective. Also the end credits illustrations are horrific for how good the art generally is

Nice! Yeah I think if you've cleared Eschatos Normal you shouldn't have much too much trouble with Mushi Original. If you get a good stage 3 and 4 you can bomb spam stage 5 and the final boss.

That's what Gunbird does right? If you use 10 continues it's hard to tell the difference again, unless continues are limited. IMO it's good to just reset score on continue

Night of grinding SDOJ runs resulted in 2 2ccs reaching the final boss, both with enough bombs to clear but I went for dumb dodges. Wasn't actually expecting to be close to clearing after 35hrs, so trying to take it as a positive despite kicking myself for choking

Realizing that dying on stage 4 midboss does not actually doom the run (as long as you get the extend) is a big confidence booster. My route has margin for 2 deaths before stage 5
