We should compare things per capita and also look at the effect population density has on providing such a high daily ridership. Culture aside, with density, and frequency come riders.

I was surprised you weren't quoted. The mobile version was good with graphics and details.

Go ahead, drop funding and find out. (F' around and find out) The real problem is how long it is going to take to put this all back together again.

The gas tax needs to be significantly higher. I'll keep driving my 50+ MPG Prius. And taking transit when I can on nice days.

USDOT’s historic failure to advance any new transit projects in 14 months may be a sign of things to come - Transportation For America
As in their first term, it appears the Trump administration is again attempting to slow down or stop transit capital expansion projects across the country. Unlike those previous attempts in 2017-2018,...

If you charge the insane price of $100/ride and service 320,000 ($40k*8matches) that is $32m. The suggested cost is $48m, so they are saying it costs $150 per expected rider? ($48k/8/40k) Help me understand the NJTransit World Cup issue by the numbers. lnkd.in/gMwZq4kQ

They state it will cost $48m for the service and they need to shut Penn Station down to only fans. How did they handle the Taylor Swift concerts, with "record-breaking, sold-out run featured 72802 fans on the final night"? Granted they are not able to use the parking lots for the World Cup matches.

Can someone help explain the math here? For NJT... Stadium capacity is 80k. Projected ridership is 40k ("40,000 fans to eight World Cup game"). They state that this is "four times the amount for a normal event at the stadium". So for a "normal" event only 10k take transit?

Has to be related to the APTA Legislative Conference going on. If not for that then the surreal factor would at least double!

And I think it is even on the decline in the US already; at least antedotaly.

Can we perhaps not use the word "czar" when referring to US government officials?

Oddly I think Mr. Carter was just in San Antonio at yet another APTA conference while now working for a hospital.

I've seen a CTA car in Wood Dale parked on a residential street every afternoon. I reported it one to the IL OIG but they lazily referred me back to the CTA. Of course the FOIA request by the Trib was finally replied to AFTER his resignation was effective.
