![An excerpt of the following:

Eorzean text spells out: "WHO ARE YOU"
The stranger’s eerie, unsettling eyes roam over the letters. Their smile fades. Those eyes seek out his own again, wandering over his face as if searching for reassurance. When they do not find it, their expression twists into one that he might call forlorn, watching as dismay contorts their all-too familiar features.
Once more, their claw settles against the glass, etching in silence.
[Their words spell "YOU KNOW ME" backwards.]
Their hand shifts, palm offered to him as their lips part, shaping around a sound that he cannot hear.
Again, Shri’ke finds himself frowning. He shakes his head, insistent. He would remember encountering someone like this, someone who wears his face but isn’t him, regardless of whether or not this is a dream.
(It doesn’t feel like one, though. It’s too—visceral. The feeling of the glass against his palms is just the same as if it were real.)
He scratches his response into his side of the mirror.
[His response reads "NEVER MET YOU" in Eorzean lettering.]
His lips form an apology, one that he doesn’t bother speaking, knowing that they cannot hear him. He isn’t sure why he’s apologizing. Perhaps because the stranger seems so upset.
Their eyes dart over those words several times, glowing crimson moving back and forth, back and forth—before they widen. Their ears pin back in evident distress. Behind them, the darkness shifts, moving as if it is alive to curl close around the stranger. It’s only then that Shri’ke realizes what he’s staring at: a massive pair of wings, covered in feathers stained the same sable shade as their hair.](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:l4neyjsdbjccinsg6ilketjb/bafkreigcnpnne4jzwtzkaaskdi4p6d3myuj6yqt4rotmrddm7ty4rccqci)
