The IEx.Helpers module has some really handy utilities, like the `i()` function for inspecting terms.

I prefer the #ElixirLang way. 😄
case x do
	nil -> y
	x -> x
end

#ElixirLang has really useful optional parameters that can be passed to the "for" comprehension. For example, filtering the data on the fly.
list = [1, 1, 4, 6, 6, 8]

for x <- list, x > 5, uniq: true do
  x + 1
end

# Result: [7, 9]

Don't sleep on the #ElixirLang Kernel module. Imported by default, Kernel provides us with a plethora of utilities. One of them is the "then" function that allows for piping of functions and effects that would otherwise not work in a pipeline.
user_input = "  HELLO  "

cleaned_text = user_input
  |> String.trim()
  |> String.downcase()
  |> then(fn text -> "clean: #{text}" end)

# Result: "clean: hello"
