Continuing my bookbinding adventures, hand sewing my signatures together. I'm using a curved upholstery needle. It can be found in the African haircare section for weaves. It's cheap and easy to find. Keep bookbinding accessible! #booksky #booktok #bookbinding #howlsmovingcastle #diy #craftoftheday

A 3 inch long needle with the top half inch bent to 45 degrees. It shows book signatures zigzag stitched together with the needle catching three stitches at a time in a horizontal zigzag stitch across the binding of the book spine.

For anyone interested. Yes, the thread adds bulk, not much though. Here it is weighted down with a pickle jar full of buttons to show the compression vs expansion. And yes, the thread is strong enough for a shirt seam, it's fine for book pages. #booksky #booktok #bookbinding #howlsmovingcastle #diy

Working on rebinding my fave (duplicate) copy. Perfect to Hardbound. Next, to machine stitch them. Default zigzag width, all-purpose serger thread, and tension. I adjusted the zigzag stitch length to maximum. (3mm?) #bookbinding #booksky #booktok #howlsmovingcastle #diy #rebinding #dianawynnjones

Working on rebinding my fave duplicate copy. Not seeing a lot of solutions for rebinding glue paperbacks (perfect binding) into hardback so this is what I came up with. First, to separate the sections into signatures. #booktok #booksky #rebinding #howlsmovingcastle #dianawynnjones #diy #bookbinding

Shows an exacto knife carefully cutting through the glued binding of a book.

Shows a held stack of book pages stuck together in small separated sections

Finished my third bottle project, tiny cross stitch lighthouse!✨ Chewable, doable, tiny projects! 🥰 (I cut the background fabric to reduce bulk ask they're a pain to fit into the bottles with narrow necks.) 🙃😅 #crossstitch #lighthouse #coastalcrafts #miniatures #craftsky #hobbyhopping #tinyandcute

Made a varsity-style jacket from the book of Howl's Moving Castle! I custom made the basic patches. (not Calcifer, who was from my local comic con, and the Howl/Sophie one is a pin) #customizedclothing #varsity #welshrugby #rygbicymru #nerdwear #howlsmovingcastle #dianawynnjones #thebookisbetter

Just a little project today as most of my free time was the dull task of mending clothes. I added this patch (and pockets!) to my favorite cardigan. I decided the original color scheme clashed. A little fabric paint and BAM! Copper is WAY better. Sorry, Frodo. 😜 #lotrsky #craftsky #patch #hobbits

Just informationally, I did acrylic paint for parts of the background to reduce bulk because the dollar store bottles have super skinny necks. The moon, Nessie, and ruins in the background are all stitched tho. Fabric glue for edges and to reduce tied knots. Packed with seed beads for shape. 😁

Thanks! There's tons of ideas on Pinterest where they stitched the bottle outline so I for sure think I need to try some more patterns 😁 it got super crunched getting it in so I packed it with seed beads to keep it flat against the inside. Let me know how it goes if you try something like it! ❤️

This is the first time I've finished one of these challenges! 🥰🥰🥰 Also, Gaiman is still cancelled. He's not as low as unchanging, double-down, repeat offender JKR in my book, but without some hefty atoning, he will remain cancelled. The book is still a quality myth retelling tho.

For my next miniature project I am doing Wayne Manor library. I found this resin cake topper thrifting (Wilton, 1998) and with some creative carving I reshaped them into forward facing busts of Thomas and Martha Wayne. Although, Thomas is giving Bill Nye and Martha is giving Caroline bingley. 😂😅🤷
