Memorial tattoos come in many forms, but my personal favorite are the ones that represent a persons tastes and interests. It was an honor getting to tattoo this tea cup paired with a pink treat. #tattoo #memorialtattoo #traditionaltattoo #colortattoo #tattooartist

Tattoo of a tea cup with purple flowers and a pink joint on a thigh.

I am in love with this wolf tattoo I got to do last week! Inspired by the Noah Kahan song, “Howling”, this piece pulls together a couple elements I love, skeletal and celestial vibes. If you haven’t heard this song, take the time to check it out! It’s lovely. #tattoo #wolftattoo #linetattoo #art

Introducing the “Village Vultures” book project, an upcoming two-part book series. To put it simply, this is a not-so-serious story about death and the people that dedicate themselves to its work written and illustrated by me, Ray Chel. #writing #illustration #author #artist #death

Book cover depicting two skeletal figures holding scythes. At the center of these figures is the book title, “Village Vultures”, prominently circled and illuminated. This digital illustration is done artist, Ray Chel.

✨In Progress✨ Been slowly chipping away at this “Shibari Snek” project. First, I sketched out my concept, photographed and redrew digitally, printed and traced the back, and then etched it onto the wood using a quarter. The plan is to use posca pens and paint to complete it! #art #inprogess

✨Laika the Dog✨ On a journey with no way home, Laika became the first living thing to orbit the earth. Today, we remember her as a martyr for her contribution to space exploration. I like to believe she’s the brightest shining star in the night sky. #tattoo #laikathedog #tattooartist #linetattoo

You’re definitely not alone! I technically close my books and let my regulars onto my schedule early before I open them so it makes the booking session a bit less stressful. I rely so much on my regular people, they really are the real ones. It’ll get better, we just need to support each other!

I open my books on March first and have had some anxiety about the booking period. I’m normally able to fill my books, but I also tattoo 3-4 times a week and illustrate the other days. I also do pop-up markets on the side to help promote my work. It’s tough, but we will get through this!
