It might just be crystalized memory of the experience in total, but I've always thought of it as the one that made me feel the most like I was driving the story. There's bits of that in others, but your actions literally change how you're perceived in-game. You're writing your own legend.

@necrosoftgames.com Demonschool looks like it's actually been doing okay but it's still legit and worth a recommendation. Super stylish, very unique movement-based turn-based combat system, lots of cool characters. I like "wants-to-punch things for fun" and "will climb a building to photo a bird".

Rogue Flight is another one I always have to shout out, because it doesn't get nearly enough love. A rail shooter reminiscent of stuff like Star Fox and those good old somewhat pessimistic classic sci-fi anime, with high-adrenaline flying and sick customizations to get. Criminally underappreciated.

Also, the show's creator Danny Antonucci said he based him on himself as part of an Italian immigrant family, how it felt having different customs from others, so that's kinda sweet and silly.

What's interesting is that the original show spanned a period of time that saw it switch to a more modern style of recording at some point - I distinctly remember an episode I saw that felt uncannily smooth and the cameras moved oddly and it distracted the hell out of me.

Back when the numbered list was basically a meme, Cracked put out all kinds of lists about things that people were getting wrong about stuff, like the Stanford experiment and Jonestown, and it was a good way to turn people on to this subject. Basically I agree with the proposal of a show.

Oh for sure, if you know where to look you can find lots of very funny people with very thoughtful writing about historical events. Cool Zone Media is run by former Cracked writers, as is the Some More News crew. It was just a little easier to find them under the single banner of an online magazine.

And yes I realize Cracked was a comedy website but it hid a deep well of writing talent until it shot itself in the proverbial face. A lot of these events I learned about from cracked writers, either back then or since.

Used to be, back when Cracked didn’t suck, you could easily find articles explaining how this or that thing wasn’t the way everyone assumes it was, maybe not in deep detail but enough to plant seeds of interest into investigating further for the sake of having a firmer knowledge base.
