Every accusation is a confession with MAGA. It’s like these people can’t even hear themselves talking.

So . . . . . don’t vote for him. Problem solved.

Ultimately, the problem lies with American voters. Republican politicians are generally only doing what their constituents want them to do and that’s why they keep letting a hopelessly corrupt, incompetent administration run amok without accountability. Republican voters are into that kind of thing.

Hard core separatists are consistently polling at about 20% in Alberta (with another maybe 10% favouring the duplicitous “send Ottawa a message” nonsense) while the PQ in Quebec are polling at about 30%. Don’t go too overboard on pulling a fire alarm just yet.

“Paralysis by Analysis” is the Canadian way. We study things to death and nothing gets done. Carney wants to change that.

Neither Canada, Iran or anyone else is going to be particularly motivated to strike any deal with Trump before the USA midterms. Everyone can plainly see Republicans are in enormous trouble and Trump will likely be neutered by mid-January. He’s in a desperate position and all bluff right now.

The two-party system in America is peculiar, restrictive and proving to be a near fatal weakness. Other democracies have other options voters can use to express their dissatisfaction instead of feeling they have to support their tribe no matter what.

They’re into that kind of thing. Well, at least a third of them are. In a normal, healthy, democracy, Republicans would be polling in the 10-15% area. That Republicans will still get 40% of the vote is unbelievable and shows a democracy on the edge of collapse.

In other, normal democracies, voters have far more choices than Americans do. The rigid, entrenched, two-party system is trapping Americans and is fairly unhealthy. There’s no alternative on either the right or left to let off steam.

Paralysis by analysis is the Canadian way. Ordinary Canadians are cheering Carney because they recognize that had to end and he’s pushing through and getting things done that they’d like to see.

Sheeran says he keeps his personal opinions out of his professional life - a very common position - and has hell rain down on himself. Literally said nothing in favour or against either Israel or Palestine. That’s what you call a no-win outcome.

The kind of people who buy best-in-class business jets from Bombardier don’t need to use an American company to do so. There are other avenues. And, I think, Bombardier has a factory in Wichita anyway.

If America were a normal democracy, Trump and Republicans would be polling in the 10-15% range and Canadian retaliatory tariffs wouldn’t have much political bite. But, that’s America today. Somehow, all the corruption and incompetence is something at least one-third of Americans are into.

And this is why the world is gobsmacked and laughing at America. In a normal democracy, Trump and Republicans would be at 10-15% support right now and rightly facing an electoral wipeout.

Even if Trump we’re to disappear tomorrow, the 40% of the American electorate who would vote for him a fourth time, in spite of his record, would still remain. Generations will need to pass before the rest of the world trusts the American electorate again.

The Canadian boreal forest is seven times larger than all US National Forests combined. For 70% of it, there’s no road access. Until America and other countries get serious about climate action, the fire situation will only get worse.

While that may be his personal preference, only Congress can authorize American withdrawal from CUSMA and that’s unlikely to happen, even with narrow Republican majorities in both the House and Senate.
