Our family had a wonderful Durham Pride Community Protest & Parade! @laurareece.bsky.social and I got to stand up for our kids and our neighbors, and I got to hug many dear old friends we saw along the parade route (like Council Member Javiera Caballero, pictured). Rain couldn’t stop us! ☔️💪🏻🌈

I visited this site yesterday for the same reason that I visited similar locations when I was a member of the Durham City Council -- because I wanted to see these 52 acres of land as more than just lines on a map attached to a staff memo regarding an upcoming rezoning and annexation request. /4

More seriously, walking through wooded areas in southeast Durham is a surreal experience these days. This particular location off of Virgil Road is sandwiched both to the north (clearing and grading underway) and the south (completed large housing development). /3

UPDATE: The Orange County Commissioners are raising taxes a bit more than originally proposed BUT the money will go to public schools and not the CH Library. The county did agree to reduce its contribution over 3 years instead of 2. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ chapelboro.com/news/local-g...

While county commissioners did not restore the funding for the Chapel Hill library, they did agree to slow down the phaseout. If adopted as agreed upon Thursday, the county will draw down funding for the library over the next three years rather than two, giving the institution and the town government more time to adjust.

Woke up @ 7am to more snow here in Paris and it’s still snowing almost three hours later. Our amazing city of Paris workers came out a while ago to shovel snow in and around the little park across from our apartment and put down sand so folks can enjoy it today. 💙🤍❤️ #ParisForNow 🇫🇷
