I would use this site more, but I feel like it’s hard to get any traction on your posts. 😟

If you love indie comics and want something fun and exciting, I hope you’ll consider backing Pistol Shrimp on Kickstarter. It’s an epic in the making inspired by books like Saga, Berserk, Preacher, and Axe Cop.

Three pages from Pistol Shrimp #2. This was the issue when this series really found its footing. Still love this one. You can get your own copy right now through the Pistol Shrimp Kickstarter. Get the first four issues digitally for $6 or physically for $30!

I’m so excited for this Kickstarter to end so people can finally read Pistol Shrimp #4. I think @luismorocho.bsky.social and I both agree it’s the best issue yet. I think you guys are gonna love it too!

It can be a bit embarrassing to constantly post about your project, but you also never know which random post will be the one that finally convinces someone to back. So I think it’s worth it. 😅

Did you know for just $6 you can get all four issues of Pistol Shrimp and the first issue of Gideon and the Real World digitally to read right off your phone!? Crazy!

Make sure you’re following the pre-launch page for Pistol Shrimp #4 over on Kickstarter. The series is getting better with every issue and the earlier you jump on board the easier it’ll be to say, “Yeah, I liked it before it was cool.”

I know the time between issues of Pistol Shrimp can be long. And it probably doesn’t help that our most recent two issues ended with pretty big cliffhangers. But I think putting out a good product is worth the wait. And now we’ve got Pistol Shrimp Summer! 🔫🦐

The more issues of Pistol Shrimp we release the bigger it’s going to get. We’re building something here and every chapter is another brick. You’re not going to want to miss this epic in the making.

Manta rays have feelings too (and they make art). The best issue of Pistol Shrimp is already being colored, and it's the best one we've done so far. @charliemcfarland.bsky.social

Pistol Shrimp #4 has the most action, the most heart, and the most pages (34) of any issue so far. You’re not going to want to miss this one.

014

Charlie McFarland @charliemcfarland.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Pistol Shrimp #4 is going to elevate this series in a big way. Our most mature and thought provoking issue so far. You’ll be surprised at the fact that this is just an indie comic and not a bestselling series.

021

Charlie McFarland @charliemcfarland.bsky.social · 12/02/2026

So here’s my plan. I’m funding the new issue of Pistol Shrimp myself. I’ll put it on digital platforms immediately, and do a kickstarter for anyone who wants a printed copy. This way we can have a much smaller goal, and people will get their books almost immediately after.

I’m really enjoying Pluribus. It takes its time, for sure. But I’m always having a good time with the level of detail they put into every shot. And the character development is still there, though some people online seem to disagree.

Mindless action has never been my thing. If you read Pistol Shrimp, you’re going to get guns and fight scenes, for sure. But expect to find some real depth to these characters and stories. I want you to miss these characters when their stories end.

040

Charlie McFarland @charliemcfarland.bsky.social · 11/11/2025

I only write stories I want to read. If I get bored while I’m writing something, I switch gears and write something else. That’s why I’m so proud of our comics. These are books I would read.

Haha, you're right @charliemcfarland.bsky.social , drawing Pistol Shrimp has not only been fun, but also a lesson in anthropomorphic characters.

Ran by the comic shop today and picked up @luismorocho.bsky.social new Star Wars book! So proud of this guy! And I’m glad to see all of his practice with drawing sea creatures in Pistol Shrimp is paying off in this story! 😂

I need a Youngster (gen Z or Gen Alpha) to tweet this picture of Pistol Shrimp and say, like, “Yo, this is gas!” or something along those lines that your generation would say. Thanks.

I’m going to be a very hated man once more people discover Pistol Shrimp and find out how long they’ll be left on a cliffhanger between issues. 😑
