Constantly having to market my books and build an online presence has stripped any joy I had from writing and creating. I'm just not enjoying myself. I think I'd rather sell 0 books than constantly have to market them. It's soul-crushing. I'm not having fun.

Favorite piece I've done recently, also first drawing trying out my new hair rendering skills ♡♡♡

I have to restart the coloring for volume 1 of the remaster of Take All You Can. I recently upgraded my hair rendering skills and I have to redo the coloring 😭😭😭

I'm gonna take a break from writing books for a little bit to work on the remasters again. I'm a bit burned out from having to promote my books constantly, I wanna do some creative work.

I think my graphic novel remasters are going to go directly to my website as EPUB or PDFs that you can purchase directly from my site. I think that'll be the best way to distribute them. Each PDF will be about 10 dollars.

We were supposed to get a sequel or remaster of Twinsanity recently but it got canceled in favor of another Call of Duty game if I recall correctly. We could have had it all.

The fusing was my favorite part. I learned all the shortcuts in the tracks. Maybe I'll play Spyro 2 sometime!

Tag Team Racing was so fun, you could do so much in the amusement park! Midievil was so fun too, I had a blast with that one. I remember beating the first Spyro when I was 8!

Twinsanity one of my all time favs, that and Crash Tag Team Racing. They came in a two pack and I loved them both.

I think this is just what we have to do. Things aren't permanent unless we own them. If people don't want to lose the stories they love, they really need to start thinking that way

So Tapas being shut down. You can't trust a platform, so I think I'm going to start putting my comics on my website. As well as Patreon, and of course, in the future my comic remasters will be available in EPUB format for purchase.

I'm making Euphoria into a graphic novel next year, I might submit it then! I think it's too late to submit take all you can.

Just voted! I thought about submitting Euphoria to the Ringo awards at the beginning of the year but it seemed too daunting a task! Hope you get it!

Voting closes tomorrow! Wouldn't be cool if a plucky, self-published, crowd-funded anthology by disabled creators won against the anthologies published by the bigger, better known companies?

Finally found something that doesn't look like shit that I can replicate.

000

🇲🇽CharlieDVan @ A Taste of Lavender on Kindle 🇲🇽 @charliedvan.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

This was easier in practice and can't seem to recreate it in the comic.

🇲🇽CharlieDVan @ A Taste of Lavender on Kindle 🇲🇽 @charliedvan.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

Okay okay, I'm going to practice how to render hair before I jump back into the remasters. It's crazy that everything has improved EXCEPT hair.

I'll be paywalling all my comics in Patreon these coming months cause like I should be paid for my comics.

I feel like Jack Skellington after he got excited over Halloween again after becoming disillusioned with Christmas.

Also the remasters of my graphic novels will be exclusively on Patreon. Take All You Can, Euphoria, Salt for Your Wounds, House of the Rising Sun, Only Seasons, and Hartbreaker will all be moving to Patreon.

After the Brides of Hades duet comes out, I might be taking a break from writing for a while. Which is different from my original plan but holy hell, being an indie author is hard folks. I'm going to focus on the remasters of the graphic novels and take it a day at a time.
