I'm stunned at the idiocy and moral posturing of some cycling fans who boast of "believing the best" in spite of evidence to the contrary...and then who stalk and hulk trying to intimidate others with their moral purity who rely on evidence and sound reasoning... Apply that posture to Israel...yeah

One of the things I love to do most is watch professional cycling races. One of the things that disgusts me is gaslighting and pretense. I'm not watching today, a rider managed by ex-dopers and sportswashing for an oppressive regime. Until he gets rid of all ties to dopers, I just cannot.

"The sight of evil kindles evil in the soul—there is no getting away from this fact. The victim is not the only sufferer; everybody in the vicinity of the crime, including the murderer, suffers with him. Something of the abysmal darkness of the world has broken in on us, poisoning the very air we breathe and befouling the pure water with the stale, nauseating taste of blood. True, we are innocent, we are the victims, robbed, betrayed, outraged; and yet for all that, or precisely because of it, the flame of evil glowers in our moral indignation. It must be so, for it is necessary that someone should feel indignant, that someone should let himself be the sword of judgment wielded by fate. Evil calls for expiation, otherwise the wicked will destroy the world utterly, or the good suffocate in their rage which they cannot vent, and in either case no good will come of it."

To all interested in my Qs and thoughts regarding protests... I live just outside Portland Oregon, for the last 48 years, and have participated in many protests and also walked away from many riots that were carried out in the name of protests. I saw many who were hurt "in the name of protest"

The other day a guy came up to me and said "no personal offense to you but I must beat the crap out of you right where you stand." Taken aback I asked why. him said it was becus he was protesting against genocide and I just happened to be the unlucky one...no offense of course. the world changed.

Obviously I'm against the actions of any nationstate that involve human rights violations. Can anyone explain to me how protesting a bike race will create change? Not the "idea" of it, the actual truth of how it will effect change?

As you consider outrage posting, have a think about the potential impact on those who see the posts and are actually affected by what merely conceives outrage within yourself. Outrage is one thing...actual harm is completely different.

From Vanity Fair article... this the turd him wife says she will devote herself to furthering him causes... her want MORE of what killed him That terrible reaction of humans moved to vengeance

"...It is not just, for instance, that Kirk held disagreeable views—that he was pro-life, that he believed in public executions, or that he rejected the separation of church and state. It’s that Kirk reveled in open bigotry. Indeed, claims of Kirk’s “civility” are tough to square with his penchant for demeaning members of the LGBTQ+ community as “freaks” and referring to trans people with the slur “tranny.” Faced with the prospect of a Kamala Harris presidency, Kirk told his audience that the threat had to be averted because Harris wanted to “kidnap your child via the trans agenda.” Garden-variety transphobia is sadly unremarkable. But Kirk was a master of folding seemingly discordant bigotries into each other, as when he defined “the American way of life” as marriage, home ownership, and child-rearing free of “the lesbian, gay, transgender garbage in their school,” adding that he did not want kids to “have to hear the Muslim call to prayer five times a day.” The American way of life was “Christendom,” Kirk claimed, and Islam—“the sword the left is using to slit the throat of America”—was antithetical to that. Large “dedicated” Islamic areas were “a threat to America,” Kirk asserted, and New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani was a “Mohammedan,” with Kirk supposing that anyone trying to see “Mohammedism take over the West” would love to have New York—a “prior Anglo center”—“under Mohammedan rule...”

To be bottom line blunt: Asking me to believe the veracity of the very top performance in pro cycling is like asking me to believe David Copperfield does real magic. The performances outside the math probabilities I cannot and do not believe.

It was on the table for Jonas to win 7 stages this year, possibly The 3 he DID win The day against Pidders Angrilu if he wasn't sick (we KNOW he would have dropped Joao) The day Bernal won He was right there for 1st the day Gaudu won His dominant performance was obscured by illness.

I absolutely STILL maintain that Jonas never "looked vulnerable" during this Welly... CERTAINLY he looked different than his usual self. THAT was what was noticeable. But actual comparisons to his rivals, he looked up to the task and more.

I think there's a bit of recency bias operating in terms of fears that Jonas will fade. Of course, if his illness worsens, then yes...but it is ILLNESS that beats him, not Uncle Rico How many times we see Jonas have a bad day on a mtn? Only one. Followed by a flaming climb of Ventoux! Him ok!

Charissa Grace @charissagrace15.bsky.social · 12/09/2025
Far too often we cycling fans convert our fears and apprehensions into "facts" and forecast from that In actuality, we must have the discipline to ask ourselves what did we ACTUALLY see...not what did we see compared to what we THOUGHT we would see. take away all expectation, we see Jonas winning

I'm remembering protests in Tiananmen Square right in the face of a megalith military power Protests in Poland in 1980 Protests in E. Germany ALL of which had in common the courage to protest directly to the face of the Violator. Gives a bit of context to protesting bike riders.

Remember that one time, at TdF camp...when Jonas led the entire Ventoux and even threw a few RIPPING attacks in...and then Dopey came round and took the win and bonuses...and everyone lauded Dopey. Imagine the furor if Jonas had done that to Joao yesterday, the things that would be said...

Thought: Pidders exploded up the climb and "dropped" Jonas who let him go, and came back under control... then, 2 days later Pidders hadda pay, while Jonas was able to choose his fate Thought: Joao went all in today, obviously while Jonas again covered... what will the Joao bill be tomorrow?

Pidders is one of my very fave riders and I wish him oodles of luck, success, etc...and also I expect there to be gaps today from him to Jonas. Hopefully Pidders will do well. My very fave rider is Jonas, so my heart yearns for what my mind expects...he will as Liggett said "stamp his authority"

I utterly despise Bob Roll's style of commentary, what w/the inane cackles, overuse of hyperbole, recency bias, constant double/triple negatives... Having said that, he's being unfairly criticized that he doesn't understand the current protests, based on a comment he made abt an historical protest.

Without being a scintilla critical of Ayuso, I can also point out that his victory was far more a function of the agendas and choices of the big rivals than it was some breathtaking awesome display of cycling prowess. Of COURSE it takes "the stuff" to ride that way...but he was ALLOWED to do it.

Can some cycling expert help me understand the strategy of Almaida sprinting for a meaningless place with no time bonus available, creating draft for his 2 rivals to finish in his wheels on the exact same time and yet have a marginally easier ride to the finish...? It seems senseless to me.

If you ride your bike around in a mental state of "should be" you will almost certainly get hit by a car and likely killed. Cars violate "should be" by their very existence. Ride knowing every single car wants to drink your blood, and you will be safe(er).
