Wow. www.usda.gov
Screenshot of the USDA.gov page. It reads “Due to the Radical Left Democrat shutdown, this government website will not be updated during the funding lapse. President Trump has made it clear he wants to keep the government open.”

Missing my fellow Coakerites today! I tried to recreate my favorite MPMI 2023 photo but this time it’s just me 😢. Another reminder of the impact politics has on science and that many incredible academics working in the US aren’t here this year. #2025ISMPMI
Four Coaker lab members posing with our fancy fabric posters at IS-MPMI 2023Me posing with my fabric poster as a cape in this year’s MPMI poster hall

Science is cool but reunions will always be my favorite part of conferences. So, so lovely seeing my former colleagues from my masters @phimresearch.bsky.social Team CIME 4ever 🍄‍🟫🌾 #2025ISMPMI #ouiouibaguette
Stella taking a selfie of the whole team at dinner. There are eleven smiling faces looking at the camera. It’s sunny out and the background has umbrellas and trees.

Did Nuria’s talk get you excited about wilt diseases? Are you in love with lignin? Calling all vascular pathogen fanatics to P-38 in session 1 (presenting Tuesday!). Hear all about how Clavibacter uses CAZymes to break free of xylem vessels and how plants might detect this damage! #2025ISMPMI
Photo of my poster at MPMI! Gray poster with bright colors and images of tomatoes infected with Clavibacter.

As I say in my speech (clipped here because Idk maybe it’s useful to someone), we can’t just say “I stood up for science that one time.” Rallies like this should be a starting point to a movement, not a one time event. So folks, where do we go now? (2/3)

Tuesday morning thought dump: I had the privilege to speak about agricultural research and being a grad student at the Sacramento #standupforscience. It was wonderful and the organizers did such a great job, but I’m sitting here wondering for all those who attended - what’s next? (1/3)

A bit depressing for a first post on here but… ugh. Science can be cruel.
