DEIFY was an impulse buy yesterday and has consumed my morning. A tarot-based, solo-journaling RPG where you chronicle the myths of a God, from the moment it's birthed as a stray thought through its meteoric rise (and eventual fall as you are forgotten). First journaling game to really hook me in!

What I’m up to lately: Been getting ready to start some “5 Parsecs from Home”. Been printing out some paper figs by @okumarts.bsky.social and putting together an Obsidian vault to track the crew and encounters. Started turn 1; have the details of the first encounter ready. Will play it tonight!

My urge to kick the tires on ol’ #4E D&D came from playing HeroQuest solo mode and Five Leagues from the Borderlands, reminding me that skirmish heavy games can still be fun. Anyway, revisiting the DMG made me realize this edition had stuff that was ready for me, before I was ready for it.

Advice from the 4E DMG on how to build a deck of random encounters

Suggestions from the 4E DMG that you can play D&D without a Dungeon Master, using an encounter deck and players deciding the actions of the monsters.

Ended up ordering a softcover copy of Heroes of the Feywild for #4E D&D off POD/DTRPG. WoTC is really leaving some money on the table not having the core books of this edition print on demand. This came out great — I would repurchase a lot of the player/power books in this format for table use

Last few weeks has been pretty awful. More home repairs, family health issues, I personally had to struggle between my doc and pharmacy to refill heart & brain meds. So it felt good to visit old friends and run some #4E #DND last night. Lots of laughs, homemade pizzas, and lots of dice rolling.

Started a Five Leagues from the Borderland campaign today. Go figure my first event is discovering an ancient ruin and going on a delve. Got swarmed by undead and awakened an Infernal Spawn. Ended up fleeing to the exit after hitting the objectives. No casualties, but a couple wounded.

More HeroQuest Solo Mode today. Experimenting with generating side quests using Loke Battlemats, a random quest generator for prompts, and just kinda winging whatever the Solo Deck pops up. First turn and the Elf is already screaming ABOMINATION!

HeroQuest board game...the Barbarian, Wizard and Dwarf are looking to make work of a lone skeleton. Meanwhile, the Elf wanders off and finds herself on the sights of a very pissed off Abomination.

I saw some posts talking about "First RPGs" and they're always a mix of video games & tabletop, so I'm doing both. Dragon Warrior on NES introduced me to mechanics like character levels, hit points etc. My older brother explained "That's D&D". But Shadowrun would be my first TTRPG

So after the Adder ate it, I flew in a Spider for reinforcements who then challenged THAT tank to their own Zellbrigen to get revenge. A game of "Leap Frog Attrition" commenced. We didn't win the fight, but we broke them of the habit.
