" Do not let him control you. " He has disregarded his own food; he does not truly need it. He does, however, pour a glass of wine. " He will be hard to kill. "

" And yet... how many years was his mind twisted and manipulated before he learned the truth of his very nature, of the experiments that created him? I make no excuse for the. . . Monster that Sephiroth became, but it is easy to empathize — likely because I, too, am a monster without control. "

" I knew what Hojo was. It would not have been some great tragedy had I ended him in the moment. And yet... I didn't. " He clears his throat and shifts the food on his plate for a moment. " And I woke. In Nibelheim that day, when he.... lost control of himself. Had I stayed in his life

Vincent sits at the second empty chair, a plate of his own in front of him — though he doesn't need to eat so often. It is better to share a meal when attempting to offer unity. "When I was a Turk, I was charged to protect the woman who would. . . Give birth to a child who had been infected with

" No. " Vincent is careful as he drains water from the cooked pasta, methodical in how he begins to pour sauce into the pan. It keeps him focused on this moment. " I am not of Sephiroth — as you are. He is a figure of your past and a figment of my future — but my hands are stained with the

" Hm. " The noise is noncommittal — he offers no promise. Instead, he gathers some ingredients from his cupboards and fridge, and pulls a pan from a cabinet. Pasta is a simple and relatively quick dish to make, and making something quick is the goal. " We worry. It would be forward of me

Vincent quietly fills a glass of water, silent as he allows Cloud to look around — it is nothing special, but he recognizes the significance of allowing anybody into his space when he so infrequently does. He sets the filled glass on the table in front of Cloud, and quietly moves the gauntlets

" All I ask is that you sit. And drink some water. " Vincent's apartment is small, and he does prefer to be elsewhere; he has this residence because it had seemed important to be somewhere close to his self-appointed charges. He leads Cloud into the small, relatively unfurnished apartment
