Sad to hear about the passing of David Thomas of Pere Ubu. Seeing a HyperCard-based Pere Ubu interactive project in the early '90s was an influence on the original HyperCard version of Chaos Control. Years later, I got to ask him about it: “I love HyperCard. It’s a real crime they dropped it.”

Interesting listening to @economist.com trying out "a third-party text-to-speech AI service" for some article audio-editions. It's pretty good, but seemed a bit flat and the pacing is sometimes weird. And it annoyingly occasionally says "dot" or "comma"!

Yeah, I don't quite remember the details but that sounds right. I wasn't sure myself but was able to confirm through his publicist at the time. I ended up meeting him in person in 1994 I think, and he'd moved on to AOL. Bloop Museum looks really cool!

Prodigy (the online service) is where I met Trent Reznor back in 1992 (he was interacting with fans on message boards there.) And he agreed to an interview for the zine I was starting! I'm actually planning on re-sharing that tomorrow, as it took place the day after Thanksgiving.
