Enjoying both nature and science with our #EcoRes group in the Bavarian Forest National Park. 🌲🍄A good reminder that some of the best science starts with simply being out there — observing, wondering, and learning from nature.

Is there generality in decomposition across substrates? We tested this in an experiment across elevation, studying carrion, dung, leaves & wood. We found idiosynchratic patterns of decomp, with local conditions being more important than macroclimate @sebseibold.bsky.social doi.org/10.1002/ecm....

Interesting! Wood from gravesites can help reconstruct historic temperatures, floods, and droughts

🪵 Bark and wood traits shape deadwood invertebrates differently. Bark traits drives invertebrate diversity only in fine wood in early stage, whereas wood trait effects are longer-lasting, but restricted to coarse wood🌳 🖥️ Find out more: buff.ly/oV00sxK
