@/seralica on tumblr added even more context on why this should raise alarm bells for everyone

I would like to emphasize that a shortage of these chemos is VERY BAD for cancer patients. These are some of the most common chemos we use.
There is no substitute for this in curing ovarian cancer, testicular cancer, lung cancer, and head and neck cancer. A cousin of these drugs (oxaliplatin, also made with platinum) has no substitute in curing colon cancer. These drugs are also used in some way in basically every type of solid tumour cancer.
Older, staple chemos are more at risk of shortage because they're less profitable, so less companies make them. I am very worried at the chance of these shortages expanding.

This is extremely worth paying attention to and advocating for more stable supply chains.
I'm biased (am a medical oncologist), but l think chemo drugs are a more lifesaving use of platinum than more gen Al we didn't ask for.

To add context as to why pharma co.s in India aren’t inclined to keep producing these drugs is because India has medicine pricing limits. The main solution for now could be that the govt subsidises the platinum supply cost for the pharma co.s. As of now, people are scrambling for life saving meds.

✷ Request for funds ✷ Seeking funds to pay 8 women artists who hail from some of the most marginalised communities in one of the most impoverished states of India. Kindly go through the images for more details. Please reshare, and if you can, contribute here: paypal.me/chaioverdose

My partner is seeking funds urgently to pay 8 Dalit-Bahujan women artists for their creative labour.
Their compensation was repeatedly assured and promised for months (alas, verbally) by the organisation that my partner was working with.
They are refusing to pay now, and the work has already been produced and screened trusting the organisation's repeated promises.

These women come from some of the most marginalised communities in one of the most impoverished states in
India.
This compensation has been due to them and we don't have sufficient funds ourselves to pay them.

My partner has already raised and distributed $210 of the goal amount of $940.
The compensation to each artist can go a long way for them- $105 means 3 months of rent, or 4 months of groceries, or even the ability to acquire livestock.

You can contribute via PayPal here:
https://paypal.me/chaioverdose
About $100 of these funds will be given to a trusted person, to cover costs for physically delivering the money, as more than half the women do not have digital financial access.
Please share this post, and please consider contributing if you can.

Now reading “The Invisible Doctrine”. Also trying my best to not spiral into tears of rage and despair as I read about how it became “normalised” to pillage the planet and disenfranchise the population.

Excerpt from the book “The invisible doctrine “. The highlighted text reads This seizure, exhaustion and abandonment of new geographical frontiers is central to the model we call capitalism.
'Boom, Bust, Quit' is what capitalism does. The ecological crises it causes, the social crises it causes, the productivity crises it causes are not perverse outcomes of the sys-tem. They are the system
