I love cold. Heat just crushes me and my health conditions exacerbated. It only got above 85 a couple of times this summer. Now, when winds blow, we lose power but we’re going full solar in the spring. Just one bit of our 47 acres. 😉

We have a small homestead with 16 chickens. ~6.5 dz eggs a week. 5 dz go to our local food bank in a very rural area of Maine.

The potato farmers here ended their harvest and give away potatoes. My neighbor brought abt 40 lbs of potatoes to us, yesterday. Baked potatoes can be frozen, so I made 2 dozen twice baked potatoes w/ roasted garlic and onions. The 1st batch is w/out cheese. The 2nd in oven for 2nd bake, now. 😉

Our chickens are laying like there’s no tomorrow. So far, we’ve had so many eggs since mid the end of August, weI’ve been able to share with several families. One local food bank took 5 dz, yesterday, for folks to get today. Folks, there’s nothing like a fresh egg from your own homestead.

A yr ago, my spouse, J, hadn’t been out of our home, except for drs appts, for over 10 yrs. We moved to a place not far from Nowhere. He’s so happy & our homestead is coming together. J and our ASD dtr are auguring holes for fence posts to create a play area for our dogs. I’m very proud of them.

This is K7haal and he’s my prior service dog who was retired over a year ago due to cataracts. He’s always slept at the head of our bed and has, saved my life - chest compressions when my vascular system failed. So, he still protects me and loves me - and I him. Such a good boy. ❤️💙❤️💙

Far exceeds. We’ve 7 Dogs 6 yrs+. It’s going to be a rough next few years. My first service dog, Fenway, died 23 Sept 2018 @ almost 12 yo. She came in from playing, sat down all happily panting, looked right at me and she died. I swear she took a big piece of me with her. RIP my beautiful girl

Ellie is my third service dog and, at ~10 lunar months. She’s doing very well. My last service dog, K7haal, was retired 7/2025 due to cataracts. My first, Fenway, passed away in 2018. I’ve Lupus, cEDS and vEDS, Complex Migraines, Sjögren’s, and Fibromyalgia, and IBD. So, I get it. 😉. Here’s Ellie:
