This is the @nejm.org study that examined non-opioid analgesic, VX-548 (suzetrigine/Journavx), in acute postoperative pain (bunionectomy & paniculectomy). 100 mg load, then 50 mg for maintenance was comparable to 5- mg of hydrocodone. Low dose no better than placebo. www.nejm.org/doi/pdf/10.1...

The annual meeting usually conflicts with our wedding anniversary or Father’s Day. And begging for members every 5 years? Awful. I really thought I would leave. But we’re empty-nesters with no grandkids (yet?). So, now my wife comes along to Chicago, and I stayed to keep tilting at windmills.

Note also that Item 5 distinguishes palliative care from physician-assisted suicide (or medical aid in dying/MAID) as its provision does not intentionally cause death. Testimony by AMA leaders provided ethical clarity when discussing this key distinction.

Today the AMA House of delegates passed a resolution that supports state and federal efforts to provide subsidies for undocumented immigrants to purchase health insurance, including by extending eligibility for premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions to purchase ACA plans.
