“Tulip Skirt” - First Draft I made so many mistakes on this skirt, I wondered if I should even post it. But then I realized that every mistake I make in my art practice better prepares me for the next thing that’ll go wrong in my life. #fashionsky #artsky #photographysky

I’m excited that my film –Franciscan Contradictions– is an official selection for the San Diego Latino Film Festival – it will screen at the Raíces short film program at the Digital Gym Cinema on Saturday, March 22nd.

Sheeesh this is so detailed!! It’s also cool seeing how your practice helps you grow as an individual, learning things that go beyond just the practice itself. It’s very cyclic, you make art to illustrate metaphors on life, and in return making art brings you metaphors to apply to your life ❤️

“3 Tier Skirt” First Draft I learned so many lessons from this skirt. I learned Patience. I learned how to repair something. And I learned how to accept things for what they are without having to compromise yourself. This skirt has changed my approach to art. #fashionsky #photographysky #artsky

So happy for FLOW winning the Oscar, but also sad Wild Robot didn’t win anything 😢 These last two years the animation category has just been SO STACKED

Do you run a book club? Are you a bookseller? Book scout? Would you like a digital galley of my debut novel THE EDUCATION OF KIA GREER, out May 13 via PRH and called "smart, fearless, romantic, and so very alive" by Casey McQuiston? HIT ME UP.

Idk about anyone else, but I loooove romance. I love planning creative surprises that’ll make my gf all mushy and I love the anticipation of her smile. And selfishly too, I love that she just doesn’t know what’s about to hit her haha. 🤣 ❤️❤️

Whenever I visit @friscojumpman.bsky.social I get pushed to think of and tackle many complex concepts and engage with very interesting perspectives that I’ve never considered before. We also spend hours and hours being the most unserious people too Guess that’s the Gemini in us ♊️😂

I’m hoping to dive into Common Side Effects, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say Mordecai and Rigby wouldn’t be shenaniganing on my screen this weekend 😂

I like to outline as in-depth as possible, and when I do that I definitely go by scenes vs. page count. And sometimes I even go by how many pages of my outline I wanted to get through 😄

“Mama Sang’s Quilt” I come from Black, Southern Textile Artists. Preservation of culture and tradition is a form of resistance. A practice birthed out of necessity now serves as a reminder that the history they’re trying to erase isn’t actually that far away #blackartsky #blacksky #photographysky

Photo of a quilt laid on a white background. Quilt contains a blue and red border with geometric shapes sewn together in rows and columns

Zoom in photo of the quilt showing one of the geometric shapes. Shape is made of a blue fabric that is sewn into an ecru background. Arcs of hand stitching can also be seen

Photo of my Mother, her cousin, her mother and her grandmother laid on top of the quilt.

Very true! Makes me think of Disney removing pro-Trans storylines from 2 shows (“Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” and “Win or Lose”) post election even after they had already been animated, produced and edited, just because of the impeding actions of the incoming president. It’s really sad to see.

Came out great! And great topic. From my POV, brands immediately lost me as a customer when they rolled back DEI. It’s funny cus I struggle to even understand what they could *gain* by doing this. It’s not profit or PR. So it’s really just them wanting to keep everything for a certain demographic…
