Was curious if his Hawk & Dove art in the 80s was better (inked by Karl Kessel) and it kinda was. Had more panels & better storytelling. Certain artists develop a style and stick with it then improve (Mignola, Adam Hughes, Andi Watson) and some devolve. Liefeld is definitely in that latter category

Same. All I knew about X-Men at that time was their appearance on Spiderman and his Amazing Friends where Canadian Wolverine had an Australian accent. And some of the kids at the Halloween party in Teen Hulk were dressed as them.

In 1983, Obnoxio gave him an ice cream that restored his abilities to walk but the Starjammers would take credit for it by saying they cloned him. The clone was allergic to pistachio so Charles was back in a wheelchair. That makes as much sense as a mental block that kept him from walking.

Just the other day I likened Trump and all billionaires to heroin addicts. An ex-addict once told me never trust an addict because they lie all the time to get their next hit. Trump lies all the time. 9 times out of 10 it's to get more money to fill his vacant life.

Back in my day, the valuable one was issue 2. The first issue always got benefit of advertising and hype while 2 was conservatively ordered. Word of mouth grew around those issues. If it was successful, issues 3 onward were safe bets. Now, they put out an issue with variant covers and call it a day
