CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I didn’t realize the 2nd pilot was shot so early. So that explains why we’re in the space year 2265 instead of 2266. 010
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I think it’s based on the color of the galactic energy barrier. 020
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Nimoy with a faint little smile at the end. Getting a grip on his character. Good things are ahead! #TOSSatNight 040
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Every bit of the Star Wars trilogy can be found in TOS. 030
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 04/10/2026No Mitchell! Don’t let him make a speech while you kill him! That’s your fatal mistake. #TOSSatNight 020
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I think that’s it. But Mitchell might have been able to hold the ship in orbit, so going after him ended up being the right move. 020
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 04/10/2026He really is a god now. He can summon styrofoam rocks and plastic plants out of thin air. #TOSSatNight 090
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I think even as a little baby Kirk was obsessed with the safety of the Enterprise. It’s just in his DNA. #TOSSatNight 040
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 04/10/2026None of the math adds up. But hey, who’s going to be scrutinizing this stuff in sixty years? 010
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I love Kirk backing up Spock against Dehner in the conference room. From episode one, Spock was Kirk’s guy. The beating heart of the show to come. #TOSSatNight 030
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I always think of him as a futuristic Odysseus. Too often he gets portrayed as Achilles. 030
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Sulu was just standing there when Mitchell went down. Take the helm, Sulu! #TOSSatNight 130
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I MIGHT SHOUT ALL MY POSTS TONIGHT! #TOSSatNight 291
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Poor Yeoman Smith’s duty station is just standing perfectly still doing nothing. #TOSSatNight 170
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 04/10/2026This episode shows how hard it is to put on a new show. You can just feel the effort behind it. #TOSSatNight 170
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 21/09/2026That’s great stuff! And thoroughly persuasive. I look forward to working my way through the rest of your blog. Thanks! 030
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 21/09/2026This game is officially licensed from Paramount, and as late as 1983, one year before My Enemy, My Ally was published, it acknowledges Hikaru but not Nyota. 010
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 21/09/2026But here is the cover on my box. It’s first edition (1983) as opposed to second edition (1985). 210
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I noticed a couple went longer than 4. My sense of reality blinked for a second 110
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I thought of this when Duane had Kirk describe the words on the Doctor Who time machine “Police Public Call Box” as “Anglish words.” I wondered if that’s what someone who spoke Galacta would think. But apparently Anglish is a non-Latin version of English. #TrekBookClub 020
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 21/09/2026File this under “miscellaneous,” but the Star Trek rpg from the 80’s gave everyone in Starfleet a proficiency in “Galacta,” which was the common language of the Federation. It was similar to English but not English. The rules say the TV show renders Galacta as ordinary English. 1/2 #TrekBookClub 450
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I just want to say that the word “Rihannsu” is inspired. One of the more beautiful invented names. #TrekBookClub 150
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I noticed the names “Hikaru” and “Nyota” being used. Those couldn’t have been in circulation very long at that point! #TrekBookClub 120
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 20/09/2026I rather doubt that David Ellison or any of the new Paramount people have any idea what to do with Trek now that they have it, but I wish them the best. Trek needs a new TOS, a group of fresh characters we can relate to and bond with and thrill to their adventures. Tall task. 2/2 #TrekBookClub 010
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 20/09/2026What I like best about Trek is the notion that humanity learns and grows across the long centuries, never achieving the perfection of the Organians, perhaps, but always improving themselves. Modern Trek has lost its way. It doesn’t know what it’s about. 1/2 #TrekBookClub 131
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Ael is the last Romulan of the Old Order… #TrekBookClub 130
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Yes, Ael revealing her names to Kirk was moving and terrific. It resonates with the ending of Enterprise Incident, somehow. Like Spock and the Romulan Commander, Kirk and Ael have their own secret. To Romulans, secrets seem integral to friendship, or even love. #TrekBookClub 140
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 20/09/2026If I used a phaser for household tasks like softening fasteners I would undoubtedly disintegrate myself by accident. #TrekBookClub 020
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 20/09/2026I think she must have known more than we do about Tafv’s relationship to his cousin. It was obviously very intimate, for him to essentially attempt murder of his mother and hundreds of shipmates of long standing. #TrekBookClub 020
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 20/09/2026She should go find her sister-daughter! #TrekBookClub 120
CetiAlphaNeil @cetialphaneil.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Duane does a nice job bringing back some earlier plot threads like the Sunseed effect and the other ships of the squadron. The story feels carefully plotted out, rather than rushed and slapdash as tie-ins sometimes do (usually b/c of deadlines.) #TrekBookClub 120
