I think this is fairly obvious, but when someone powerful tries to ban something, they makes it cool and subversive. Of course people are going to want to watch it. “Look what Trump doesn’t want you to see!” Has an irresistible appeal to anyone who doesn’t like Trump.

Exactly. My personal strategy for defeating assholes talking about how they care about women sports, & that’s why they’re opposed to transgender athletes, is to just start talking to them about women’s sports. They don’t actually give a shit, so they won’t want to talk with you about it.

To give you a sense of proximity: The ash cloud from the attack lingered for days, until rain finally washed it down. The next day, I got off the school bus, and my sneaker left a print in it. I remember thinking "I just stepped in the remains of 3,000 people." And then... had to go to class.
