Saturday Spotlight: Ken and Valerie Shelton Ken makes the pots. Valerie paints them. Ken spent decades working alongside some of Britain's best-known potters, watching and absorbing. Valerie studied textiles and painting and has spent a lifetime with a brush. Every piece is a unique painting.

Jenny Southam had a clay patch at the bottom of her garden as a child - an old chalk quarry filled with Cambridge clay. She's been making things from clay ever since. "The conversation has always been there, in the background, as a language to be used in everyday activities" buff.ly/8U4oAwI

It started with some porcelain tiles at a Japanese airport. Taja spent 20 years and tested 200+ glazes to develop his own blue. (0.8%) of iron oxide in clear glaze - transforming from orange to blue when reduction fired. "I like to create work where I just follow the nature of clay."
