Under CEQA, a court ruling invalidated the approval of the pesticide sulfoxaflor after finding regulators failed to properly assess environmental harm. The insecticide has been linked to honey bee die-offs and monarch butterfly impacts. #CEQAWorks

CEQA improves housing projects. In Contra Costa County, a housing project was approved without a stable water supply. After a CEQA challenge, the court ruled the project can only move forward if a reliable water source is identified. #CEQAWorks

In LA and Kern Counties, oil drilling permits near homes were approved using outdated reviews. After a CEQA challenge by the Center for Biological Diversity, the permits were rescinded. CEQA ensures projects are studied, impacts are disclosed, and harm is prevented before it happens. #CEQAWorks"

Real abundance means healthy communities, clean air, and safe water. That’s what CEQA helps protect by requiring agencies to study impacts, disclose them to the public, and reduce harm. We need an abundance of public health protections, not fewer safeguards.

On June 30, the Legislature passed, and the Governor signed SB 131 – a sweeping CEQA rollback that threatens wildlife, biodiversity, and community health. Lawmakers vowed to fix SB 131 before the end of the legislative session, but their time to do so is running out.
