Here's a little cartoon for #WorldOctopusDay 🐙

Ink and watercolor cartoon showing an octopus peeking out of a coconut shell underwater. The octopus says: "I've been working on a novel, but I'm afraid to show anyone. Maybe I'll put one page out there." A fish swims up to look at the page and says, "That stinks!" The octopus disappears inside the shell and says, "Everyone's a critic."

Today I had a very dreadful day cos I had issues with people I usually cross paths with daily. I've been body shamed And this isn't the first time, but today I've had an exhausting day and it hurt a lot more. Also my mom it's going back to get sick again due of stress of not having money for bills

Aww this is a really cute comic, I love the art style! 💖Very soft and smooth looking. This reminds me of myself when I think about sharing my artwork online, especially my comics cos I'm very demanding on my own work.

Happy #WorldOctopusDay! A year ago today I started my Octopolis Tarot deck. Here are some of the pieces that I've drawn since that I'm most proud of.

Strength by SS Julian, Digital Art. An octopus forces open the jaws of a moray eels as the two crash through a coral reef. A frightened frogfish flees in fear in the foreground.

The Lovers by SS Julian, Digital Art. Two octopuses fall into each others arms in the bright light of a new day and a new world. As they draw near one another, their skin colors and patterns interweave with one another. The sun watches over their union in a coral bed filled with the crackle and burst of spawning polyps. Staved into the sandy bed are two shell-tipped spears. A woven net lies strewn about, one hooked end of which is held in the arm of the female octopus.

The Hermit by SS Julian Digital art. An octopus sits ensconced in a dark blue cave, curled up against the surfaces and walls. She cradles a clutch of golden eggs, and blows air through them with her funnel. She holds a branch of bioluminescent coral in one arm, while her other arms commune with themselves, each other, or her eggs.

The Empress by SS Julian Digital art. An orange octopus, reclines within her throne of fan coral and a corallimorph cushion. To one side she grasps a staghorn coral staff, and on the other a sad dollar shield. Within her web rest many developing eggs. Around her is wrapped a domesticated moray eel. All along her mantle crawl commensal crustaceans and molluscs. Her pattern is complex and enigmatic, evoking radial hydrozoans or flowers.

It depends of the light, his fur is gray and in some parts it's a bit brownish. And when there are more light it looks clearer.

It's already difficult to get readers for your comic as indie artist, let alone to make money off it. So I think I'll stop worrying about if it's good enough or that I don't have a cover/ typography. I'm going to just start my comic in short comic strips format and see what comes up from there.

Heheh, oh cos it says "muy picositas? Don't worry I'm half Mexican. I think they lied, they weren't that spicy🤭 I've tried way spicier snacks. Fun fact, the texture of sabritones is rough and it scraps the inner of your mouth, but the taste Worth's it! And it made me forgot the emotional pain..

Cephaloween @cephalofillevtuber.bsky.social · 21h

That's a great idea! When I feel overwhelmed by social networks, taking care of my plants and animals always makes my soul so much good! Take care, your mental health it's the most important 🫂

We are also people whose opinion should be taken in count. People who should be able to take the job we have passion for, and get the same payment and credibility, ie. scientists careers. Or in my case being able to get a job as an animator/illustrator for animation and become a filmmaker.

Nothing better to cure the pain of feeling you're obsolete as artist and person than scraping the roof of your mouth with Sabritones. Or at least to forget it for a while.

Cephaloween @cephalofillevtuber.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Wow brilliant concept and how you executed it! 🤩😲 Your original characters symbiotes are so creative and I loved all the details that representing their respective personalities

000

Cephaloween @cephalofillevtuber.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

And all from scratch ?? Wow this kid has a lot of talent !😲😲 😲

010

Cephaloween @cephalofillevtuber.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

And don't get me wrong, making illustrations about science/wildlife or animated films/series fanarts when I feel inspired it's really cool, and fun But I also want to create stuff of my own! with my original characters and stories and that said stuff can become part of pop culture in the future!

010

Cephaloween @cephalofillevtuber.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Fellow comic makers and character designers, especially the ones I look up to, if you can give me an advice on this I'd really appreciate it! why do I feel like this? It is normal? And most important, how can I recover my passion for working on comics with my original stories and characters again?

130

Cephaloween @cephalofillevtuber.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

And I know in my heart that if I keep working on my comics will be awesome! When I see my old files of scripts, character desings and concept art illustrations related, I know it!! Just that.. the spark that ignites this engine is no longer there. I feel like an old clunker waiting to be dismantled

120

Cephaloween @cephalofillevtuber.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

And the saddest thing about it, do you know what it is? it's I've been leaving aside my passion for creating comics since a pretty good time due of that. And now I dunno how get back to work All my comic projects are suck, they feel lame, fade.. it feels like it will be boring to work on them

120

Cephaloween @cephalofillevtuber.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

I'm feeling lately that my life is useless. that I'm useless. I do my best taking care of the people who are near me. People I love and appreciate cos they've told me they love and care about me. Yet I feel like none of them appreciates any of what I do None of them loves me with the same intensity

130

Cephaloween @cephalofillevtuber.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

I'll not ask for help on this project next year. I've been trying for 10 years straight I'm exhausted. I'm very discouraged and offended people don't want to support an event to teach kids about how to take care of native plants/ wildlife. Even if I've offered to organize the event FOR FREE

010

Cephaloween @cephalofillevtuber.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Hé no worries, I can always post the comics & infographics online for people to see them and learn. It'll not be the same... cos there's not many local people who follow me online, but that's better than my art getting lost on oblivion.

020

Cephaloween @cephalofillevtuber.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

I was hoping to find people to join this year. but as I've been doing stuff at home + looking up for a job I didn't have much time to look up for people where I live that are scientists, or either nerds like me interested on teaching random people about local little animals that live in urban places

120

Cephaloween @cephalofillevtuber.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Late sad news The event was cancelled cos I didn't to get scientists to join in, neither local government's aid. I wrote a letter to Art & Culture department & I got as answer I was no scientist And people wouldn't be interested to hear an unknown illustrator talk about ecology/local wildlife.

This is too cool!🥹 Oh mon Dieu You are, honest to God, the most awesome person that have even been born on earth! 💖 My role model to look up to, my heroine. Always an inspiration for all us artists & sci-commers, who struggle to talk about stuff not much people care about.
