Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 01/08/2026You know what hits the hardest for me? Writers, artists and creators who got big before genAI have the unique grace of an established, earned trust, like pre-atomic age iron. That trust gets lost forever when they start poisoning their work with AI slop. Why would you do this to yourself Hank? 0290 29
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 25/05/2026I have a close mate who's in his thirties, briefly studied political science, and is obsessed with naval history and every few months I lob this comic into his DMs like a flashbang 000 0
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 08/05/2026Everything about how this new "technology of the future" has been forced-fed to us feels so deeply insulting at every turn. It's as if any pretense of technological advancement being decided by the will of the people has been fully abandoned. The profit must flow, and thus we must become dependent. 010 1
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 06/05/2026Naturally he then slowly walked back over to the keys sat down & stood back up again while the crowd went absolutely nuts and brought the whole house down. Absolutely core moment in the history of humankind. 080 8
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 06/05/2026Can't stop thinkin about the Mountain Goats concert when John Darnielle stood up from his keyboard to play guitar and joked that he hopes we too can experience being cheered just for standing. Then someone yelled "Do it again!' and he stopped dead with a face like he got slapped with a pool noodle. 190 9
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 02/05/2026This animation is gonna take a long time so I'm gonna start getting into the habit of sharing work in progress frames! Partially to showcase what I've been spending all this time working on and partially to reassure everyone that I haven't fallen into a canyon and died or anything lol 050 5
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 12/06/2025You say that you will "not continue with this experimental feature if it is found to reduce user enjoyment". Who will be the judge of this? The iNat devs? Surely not the users - you brushed off our main concerns now and just went ahead. What's the assurance you'll suddenly take us seriously later? 0190 19
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 11/06/2025Thank you for the response, although this does sound disappointingly like "we see you, we hear you, we understand you have lots of questions and concerns, so please bear with us while we explain in sanitised language how we're gonna just do this anyway, userbase be damned". I hope I'm wrong. 081 8
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 11/06/2025In the interests of fairness I've taken a more measured stance in response to the increase in transparency, but to be honest, I at least personally still really dislike this and would rather this decision be reversed. It has certainly made me feel less inclined to recommend iNat. 040 4
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 11/06/2025@inaturalist.bsky.social I sincerely hope that the potential ethics of using genAI are considered going forward, especially with care being taken to take seriously the opinions of the iNat userbase. I'd hate to see iNat fall to the same types of profit seeking enshittification we so often see. 140 4
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 11/06/2025Thanks for the transparency. This does seem to at least be a slightly more sensible use of GenAI than I'd been led to believe initially. I do still have some concerns though, especially regarding the often deeply serious ethical issues around the training, use of, and consequences of the genAI. 130 3
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 10/06/2025Hi @inaturalist.bsky.social, I've been an enthusiastic supporter of your site for years, I'm about to hit 10 000 observations, and have donated on many occasions. If iNat becomes involved in training generative AI, I see no choice but to nuke my entire account. Utterly heartbroken by this decision. 1272 27
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 30/03/2025I'll never use AI. I would never pollute and degrade any work of mine with such wasted potential. 070 7
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 30/03/2025Even if generative AI becomes completely undetectable and indistinguishable from real work, I would without a doubt still consider it worthless compared to a real artwork created with human vision and skill. I want to see art that has a story of human spirit and dedication behind it. 170 7
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 30/03/2025Perhaps I harp on about this, but nothing is more important to me artistically than the mark left by an actual creative experience. Real artists, writers, musicians, actors - they all leave a tangible, human mark upon a work through their contribution to it. I could never imagine losing that. 170 7
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 02/03/2025Ooh yay, just realised Bluesky supports videos now! Might as well post my latest animation then - 'Microraptor and the Nest Guard', a little scene from the early Cretaceous. I made a video detailing my animation process on YouTube too, so check it out if you're interested! 8321114 321
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 03/02/2025I went to visit my grandparents the other day and the first thing my Nan said to me was "great work on your podcast!" I was like "what podcast?" She goes "You know...your fish podcast" I then realised she meant my Cambrian animation. Almost felt like going to YouTube and changing the title. 080 8
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 21/01/2025Thanks so much for sharing my work! I'm so flattered and grateful to see it appreciated 120 2
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 14/12/2024Hey, that's real kind of you, glad you like my work! Thank you so much! 010 1
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 21/11/2024Do it! I reckon it's always best to prioritise your original creative vision for the piece, rather than adjusting it to respond in advance to perceived future judgements. You may not even get those judgements in the first place. 020 2
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 20/11/2024Made this animation of a very curious Pyroraptor examining a cycad seed a while back. I always imagined dromaeosaurs as having similar inquisitive behaviour to parrots for some reason, it just seems to fit them. youtu.be/1cLTeER71ug?...youtu.beCurious RaptorYouTube video by CenospireAnimation 1223 22
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 20/11/2024Oops, looks like Bluesky doesn't support video format. That's ok, I guess I'll just link my animations on YT 050 5
Cenospire Animation @cenospire.bsky.social · 20/11/2024Abandoned Twitter a long time ago for obvious reasons, but now I suppose it's finally time I join the fray here! I'll probably post a few of my shorter animations and other random paleoart, as well as the occasional aimless thought, so stick around if that's what you enjoy! 180 8
