95% der türkischen Medien gehören regierungsnahen Unternehmen. Diese Medien ignorieren die Proteste, machen Regierungspropaganda und hetzen gegen Bürgermeister Imamoglu. Die Opposition ruft nun zum Konsumboykott gegen diese Firmen auf. Das kann dem AKP System und Erdogan weh tun.

Erdoğan’s regime was authoritarian, but also populist. Elections - although unfair - were the main legitimizing source of his rule. By removing his challenger, the elected mayor of Istanbul, Turkey is about to move into outright authoritarianism with sham elections.
