Great Easter revision session with Y11 today. We covered both writing tasks for English Language using debate about AI as our inspiration. I've uploaded to @litdrive.bsky.social in case it helps others. ❤️

Really enjoyed using NotebookLM to create a two person podcast of all the British Library articles on Macbeth. Gives our students a different way into wider reading and took seconds. AI can be so useful!

Just finished Julia by Sandra Newman. The novel retells Orwell's 1984 from Julia's perspective and (don't hate me for saying this) but it's a far more compelling read than the original. Just superb. Her will to survive! It had me absolutely captivated!

So I read a book every couple of weeks in 2024 but, embarrassingly for an English teacher, haven't read a single one of these. NYE resolution sorted! 😀👍📚 www.bbc.com/culture/arti...

Reading Orbital this Xmas break. I've never read a novel that impacts the reader as beautifully as if it's poetry. Continual evocative imagery and poignancy of single lines. Very hard to read without planning Paper 1 questions 🤣📚❤️

@englangblog.bsky.social Hi folks, just wondering if anyone has experience of supporting Y13s to prepare for the Cambridge linguistics entrance exam. I've downloaded papers for my student and we've been through one together in detail but would be grateful for any extra advice I can give her.
