Last fall we GPS-tagged a young saw-whet owl at Cape May Point. By April she was in Downeast Maine. A Long-eared Owl we tagged flew 141 miles in about 4 hours one April night, picked up by phones along the way. Help tag this year's owls: capemayowls.org/give #owls

It has been an exciting Saturday! The #ProjectMonarch story has been featured twice on @npr.org today - once during the #BBCWeekend newscast this morning, and once during #WaitWaitDontTellMe during the Limerick Challenge! Here's a sick visualization by #CapeMayArtsAndScienceCenter 's Sean Burcher!

How do you track an animal that weighs 0.5g? With #WildlifeTech that weighs almost nothing at all. The #BlūMorpho is the smallest wildlife transmitter ever deployed on a #MonarchButterfly built in Cape May, NJ. Tiny tag, huge leap for migration science. #ScienceInMotion #WildlifeConservation
A tiny black wildlife transmitter with a thin wire antenna sits on a wooden tabletop next to the tip of a black ballpoint pen, showing how small the device is by comparison.

From rain to starlight; an engaging plenary to a night in the Costa Rican highlands with Ernesto Carman and the Unspotted Saw-whet Owl. Science, persistence, and conservation at their best. We're all excited for what’s ahead. #RRF2025 #RaptorResearch #WildlifeTech #CostaRica 🦉🪶🇨🇷

Heading to Costa Rica for #RRF2025! Had to leave Cape May at 2:30am to stay ahead of the nor’easter bearing down on the region. Fingers crossed we get out of Newark and find a way around this storm! #RaptorConservation #RaptorResearch #BirbsRule #Ornithology #PuraVida

Richard Holland presenting in the Migration I session, on how birds use magnetic cues associated with direction finding to locate their position; FASCINATING! #EOU2025 #Bangor #Wales
Richard Holland speaks at a lecture hall podium during the Migration I session, with a slide projected behind him titled “True Navigation: map and compass needed.” The slide shows maps of bird migration routes in Europe and North America alongside tracking data images, while the audience watches attentively.

@celltracktech.bsky.social 's VP of Sales, Marketing and Customer Support spent the early morning hours banding Purple Martins at the Cape May Point State Park. "We're still using traditional bands and field-readable auxiliary markers, but next year I hope to use some of the BlūSeries tags!" -David
Here is the alt text for this image:

**Alt text:**
Dr. David La Puma sits at a table during early morning light, banding a Purple Martin chick. He wears a blue shirt and a gray “Cellular Tracking Technologies” hat, smiling slightly as he uses pliers to apply a silver USGS band to the bird’s leg. A strand of purple field-readable auxiliary bands, elastic loops, and wood shavings are on the table in front of him. Behind him is a black Honda with a New Jersey license plate, and the sky glows with soft golden hues.

Happy Canada Day 🇨🇦 to neighbors to the north. Here's a Kirtland's Warbler, one of the many species who know no borders, and could care less about political flexing. He flexes only to find a mate and continue the lineage of the Kirtland's Warblers that came before him...
