In both cases we’re just watching them for a bit so their real names are up to the people who are adopting them. We’re referring to current kitty as “Little Fig” since her coloration is similar to my cat Figaro 🙂

2 lets you focus more on the story and family tree deduction if that’s your interest. 1 is the experience we hope many will enjoy of actually learning the words. I think that moment of testing yourself is important - so a mouseover makes it a little too easy. But TBD with more playtesting!

After playing with some ideas, we’re thinking of two options: 1. Default is no hints - if you see a word, you have the chance to test yourself if you remember it, and if not, look over at your lexicon notes to check 2. Replacing the words in the text itself with your translations

Yeah, a downside of my approach is there’s no space left if I end up needing to run a hypothetical like you’re describing. But I find it more fun to deduce things with these tag patterns, whereas stepping through the hypotheticals feels more tedious to me, so that’s why I landed on all this.

So that's the system! Sets of blue and magenta combined with all-but-one tagging turns complex multi-clue deductions into simple applications of patterns. I have huge respect for people who can keep everything in their heads and just work it out that way - but I can't, and this way is satisfying!

13. 🎉 We can resolve the bottom corner green tags now that we know it has a pair in it. The pair must include the odd criminal out, so everyone that's not part of the pair is innocent. This is where it's good we used green for "all but one innocent". It makes it intuitive to mark Hal as innocent.
