Agree on the irritating generic fire names. In this case, a few hours ago, the location of this "Palisades fire" was—as the crow flies—seven miles of dry brush from the Cheney Canyon area of Topanga. (Yet, the wind has been blowing toward the ocean.)

As Joe Biden speeds toward the end of his presidency I've been rereading Peter Matthiessen's, "In the Spirit of Crazy Horse," about the deeply flawed case against Leonard Peltier. That Biden still neglects to pardon the ill & very likely innocent 80-year-old is a political choice, not a moral one.
