Dunno what’s going on in NYC today but for a couple of blocks I keep passing people (mostly women but some men) in all white fancy hats and dresses, several pulling suitcases or wagons.

Today in AI spam, some AI out there decided I'm in charge of Chinese Cooking Demystified?? I'm not... I'm just a viewer who loves their YouTube channel and highly recommends it. Here's their biang biang noodles recipe: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiBn...

Text of a scam email that reads:
ALAN and Northeastern University sponsored The Peak in the last month.

I run Sponsor Radar. We find the brands already sponsoring in your niche, email them for you from our own mailboxes, and hand you the ones that respond positively. We can get them your ad kit and cc you in to take them over the finish line.

Want me to run Chinese Cooking Demystified Substack and send you the list? Happy to share $20 in free sending credits too.

If we get to 300 patrons total (including free followers) or $400/month from paid patrons, I'll start posting a new novel on October 31st! (Instead of waiting until 2027.) Which novel? Well, patrons will get to vote on that very soon! In fact, we've got less than 10% left to go!

I probably don't have to tell you that times are getting tougher for both LGBTQ writers and spicy/kinky writers right now. My first line of defense is my community. The people who believe in me. Join them for $2/month? www.patreon.com/ceci...

And Don DeLillo! LOLOLOL.

"The level of commitment and service from The Literary Bureau on White Noise and Underworld was second to none. They gave these titles the exact care and polish they deserved, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome."

- Don DeLillo

The part that is totally laughable, you get to the author testimonials. One of the first is supposedly from Thomas Pynchon. Notable lifelong recluse Thomas Pynchon! The AI didn't even try to sound like his writing. Absolutely hilarious.

”Partnering with The Literary Bureau on Gravity's Rainbow, The Crying of Lot 49, and Inherent Vice has been an outstanding experience. Their team handled these complex works with immense precision, professionalism, and care. They delivered exceptional results across every title.”

- Thomas Pynchon

The logo makes it look like they've been around since 1993. But if you do a "WHOiS" lookup, the website is only about three weeks old. Well, you think, maybe old companies can still establish new websites, right. Scroll down, though...

LOLLLLLL. So I got a likely scam email inquiring about the film rights to Daron's Guitar Chronicles. The "tell" was that they listed the title this way: "Reaching out from The Literary Bureau regarding Daron's Guitar Chronicles (Series #1)Daron's Guitar Chronicles, Vol. 1."

Hi Cecilia,

Reaching out from The Literary Bureau regarding Daron's Guitar Chronicles (Series #1)Daron's Guitar Chronicles, Vol. 1. Are media adaptation rights currently open for this book?

Best regards,

Ethan Benjamin

If Google searches actually still show anything about our society's id... these autocompletes that just came up for me show... um, wow? Not the list I would have guessed. And I don't think I've seen any of these.... or even knew they existed, based on these descriptions.

what's the movie where...
arnold schwarzenegger has a baby
the guy falls in love with A I
leonardo dicaprio's wife drowns the kids
adam sandler goes back to school
you have to be quiet
the kid dies from bees
tom holland is gay
the couple gets stuck together
jim carry becomes god

From now until Halloween, I've got a goal to hit either $400 a month or 300 patrons (including free followers). If we hit goal by 10/31, I'll start serializing a new novel in progress then, instead of waiting until 2027! Join in? www.patreon.com/ceci...

Ragweed season has me suffering the worst post nasal drip of my life. Even codeine didn’t stop the coughing and after several days of this, I finally double dosed Benadryl and slept 14 hours. Even Earl Grey is congested. Sounds on for the kitty snores.
