Thousands of people in Albuquerque's civic plaza protesting against ICE surges, the extrajudicial killings and general thuggery, the deportation of US citizens, the transportation of people with legal status to other jurisdictions, and the ill-treatment of detained people. #ICEout

They had an administrative warrant, not a judicial warrant. ICE is allowed to arrest without a judicial warrant, but unlike a judicial warrant, it doesn't allow them admittance to places, they have to find the person in a public place.

If only "christianity" was more Christ-like.
"On this day, I would like all of us to hope anew and to revive our trust in others, including those who are different from ourselves, or who come from distant lands, bringing unfamiliar customs, ways of life, and ideas. For all of us are children of God."

In these times, to stay engaged, we must care well for ourselves. Stay connected. Notice when you are on overload and take a break to breathe. Remind one another. We have to rest in the moments so we can keep up the sustained fight.
Stop.
Unclench your jaw.
Soften your brow and your belly.
Relax your shoulders.
Breathe.

Something I read recently along the lines of what you are describing helped me out a lot!
Wise and important words from sociologist Jennifer Walter about what is happening in this country right now and what to do about it:
"As a sociologist, I need to tell you: Your overwhelm is the goal.
1. The flood of 200+ executive orders in Trump's first days exemplifies Naomi Klein's "shock doctrine"—using chaos and crisis to push through radical changes while people are too disoriented to effectively resist. This isn't just politics as usual—it's a strategic exploitation of cognitive limits.
2. Media theorist McLuhan predicted this: When humans face information overload, they become passive and disengaged. The rapid-fire executive orders create a cognitive bottleneck, making it nearly impossible for citizens and media to thoroughly analyze any single policy.
3. Agenda-setting theory explains the strategy: When multiple major policies compete for attention simultaneously, it fragments public discourse. Traditional media can't keep up with the pace, leading to superficial coverage. The result? Weakened democratic oversight and reduced public engagement.
What now?
1. Set boundaries: Pick 2-3 key issues you deeply care about and focus your attention there. You can't track everything—that's by design. Impact comes from sustained focus, not scattered awareness.
2. Use aggregators and experts: Find trusted analysts who do the heavy lifting of synthesis. Look for those explaining patterns, not just events.
3. Remember: Feeling overwhelmed is the point. When you recognize this, you regain some power. Take breaks. Process. This is a marathon.
4. Practice going slow: Wait 48 hours before reacting to new policies. The urgent clouds the important. Initial reporting often misses context.
5. Build community: Share the cognitive load. Different people track different issues. Network intelligence beats individual overload.Remember: They want you scattered. Your focus is resistance.”

Alright, y'all! What's your self-care looking like today? When I need to bring myself back into the present in challenging times, I find a physical project. We had to have some plumbing work done in our kitchen, so I am plastering the wall! Since I don't drink, this is how I get plastered. LOL

& when I finally found words, all I could say was thank you.

Some really important thoughts for moving forward. #DoNotSayHisName
#NeverSayHisName

Daughter of MLK and Coretta Scott King posted this advice:
1. Don't use his name, EVER! (45 will do.)
2. Remember this is a regime and he's not acting alone.
3. Do not argue with his supporters
4. Focus on POLICIES (not orangeness and mental instability)
5. Keep messages positive; they want us angry and fearful. Don't go there.
6. No helpless or hopeless talk.
7. Support artists and the arts.
8. Be careful not to spread misinformation or disinformation. CHECK IT!
9. Take care of yourself.
10. Resist.
When you post or talk about him, don't assign his actions to him, but rather to the "Republican Administration" or "The Republicans." This will require the GOP legislators to OWN what he is doing or to stand up for what some of them don't like. Also, this denies him the attention he craves.

Great advice for family gatherings or any other place where people are spilling the crazy... Others, (h/t to my friend Amy Carol Webb): Also, "I'm surprised to hear you say that." and, "I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Could you explain?"
Ms. Hatzis' four phrases for dealing with rude comments:
1. "What an odd thing to say out loud"
2. I'm surprised you feel comfortable saying that
3. Did you mean to share that with the group/say that out loud?
4. Would you mind repeating that. I am sure I misheard you.
