My objection isn’t to breaks when the heat/humidity indicates they should occur. Those are important for player well-being. My objection is to breaks regardless of conditions purely to allow broadcasters to squeeze in additional ads.

I came here to say the same. In my case that was in the Carter through Obama years. Not only was there no fear of reporting violations, there were extremely few violations to report because the people running the agencies were largely honest and competent.

Not only TurboTax. Intuit also sells QuickBooks, which I have to use as treasurer for a local food bank. We pay >$1,000 per year for it. It is filled with ads, screen-eating features that no one wants, and is regularly updated behind the scenes in ways that break routine operations. Enshitification!
