The important comparison here, of course, is how this compares to financial advisors/accountants/tax attorneys etc. when appropriately blinded. Without being able to see what the questions are or how the correctness was scored, it's pretty hard to even guess at this.

It's a hard-edge shadow, no hint of a penumbra. Would have to be pretty close

I'm not sure what the uptake rate is, but every time I'm offered a 'protection plan' on something that costs like 30 bucks I think they're really gunning for people who think like this

I just think that people are thinking that the lower numbers here are something like 'what percentage of people in your country are very concerned about climate change' but that's not what they asked! Seems misleading

I'm in the US. Where, while I would say I'm very concerned about climate change, I think I'm probably in the minority (this poll notwithstanding)

The way this is calculated as a gap is really misleading. In the case of France, for example - if 49% percent of people believe climate change is a serious threat, and all of them were to correctly assess that theirs is a minority view, that would be shown as a 49% gap, even though there is none.

I don't think this is correct. 25% of Argentines think that > 50% of Argentines think climate change is "A Very Serious Threat". Not the same thing. A lot of people may think that 49% of Argentines are with them.

Housing is counted as part of services, either in the form of rents or an imputed owner equivalent rent

It's a chart of purchasing power. That's what the '2019 prices' means.

Doesn't this chart include adults? Is there another one for children only?

You've got it backwards here. Matt continually refers to data and models, and you're implying that your personal intuition is more valid than that. That's the sharpie thing!

I think there's a decent chance your email and phone number get blown up by sketchy contractors pitching you on a new install

I think it's just a sales lead generation site. They have a 'request a free estimate' form - if you fill that out the sell the data on. Probably happens enough to pay to keep the site live?

I do not doubt the intent. When you write legislation, you do actually need to consider the edge cases. Not everyone who would be covered under these rules follows your own mental model of who is offending, and you really should not be reliant on officer discretion

People can't fix it themselves? You buy the wrong bulbs and you have to face a criminal conviction and pay a shop to replace them? I agree with the problems you're trying to address here but I do think the drafting needs work

How much of this is due to the way CAFE standards reward size? If you can make it bigger you seem to get a substantial easing of required mpg

I'm not so sure. I think for a lot of people mortgages are associated with investment and 'good' debt.

Dialog is the real sore point for me. But the strategy of 1) "Can't talk to anybody", and 2) "Talk to an alien", seem to ameliorate this. Looking forward to seeing it.

Combine it with a cooking show. Chef getting the lowest bids on their Gross Bug Souffle or whatever wins

Is there any stat that tracks 'retirement' more directly? Not sure how many might be functionally retired before that point.

These are not mutually exclusive. It's not an 'or' question. Immigrants arriving without a place to stay does, in fact, go some way to explaining why the number of people without a place to stay went up. Whether or not they were bussed from TX to NY etc.

Another factor could be how the 'cleaning' effect of the tires and the snow interact with weight transfer. Under acceleration, weight transfers to the rear tires which now have a clear track. Opposite is true under braking.

I'm sure a ton of accounts are lying about location/nationality, but I do think it's plausible that VPN use accounts for a lot of this. I don't think I would have any confidence in their location detection for any given account.

What do people do if you have to work on a saturday? I much prefer systems that treat 'voting day' as a deadline. Sometimes in the US we see proposals to make election day a federal holiday - which is great except that not everybody would necessarily get the day off.

I thought maybe I was missing something. Federal taxes are collected by the federal government, either directly from taxpayers or from, say employers that are required to withhold taxes from employees. Not a lot of opportunity for states to intervene.
