Ooooh - where is that WED plaque now?

Same. I hate listening to my 20-something year-old self on those old tapes.

LOVE this! A big reason Don and I put so much of her in the DL 70th book.

Bruce Gordon told me he’d always pivot to other jobs - that’s why I tell folks it’s better in this field to be a generalist as opposed to a specialist. Move around a lot.

I hear ya - but I am learning so, so much! Tying the Lomaxes/Leadbelly, Manson, Minstrelsy and the Wilson brothers together is fascinating. As you say, the amount of research he is doing to get there is staggering to me.

I'm finally up to Song 177 - Never Learn Not To Love by the Beach Boys, and this may be the best work @andrewhickey.500songs.com has done to date. I've always wanted to learn more about the Lomaxes and well... everything else in this one. Absolutely fascinating work!

I hate that the article is paywalled - but not as much as I hate how crummy Tomorrowland is - the ‘98 rehab was a dogs breakfast and since then it’s just gotten more shabby and lacking in overall theme and sense of kinetics it once had

I’m heading to Osaka myself soon - any good record shops you can recommend (emphasis on 80s post punk and new wave - but metal too is my main love)

They are so underrated! One of my all-time favorite bands.

Great summation of the extraordinary life of Eddie Sotto! He was lightning in a bottle!

I'm up to song 176! Almost caught up to where he's at now. It's an incredible education in popular music history.

Paul Reynolds guitar on the first few albums by them is incredible - it's what makes the songs so unique - really amazing work!

Just as raw and fresh as it was when it came out in 1980!

We structured them sequentially so you could see the development of the Hub as they worked forward...

This is how it would have looked around the time Walt was bringing his daughters there - always try to make it period correct to the subject matter if possible.

I just read the liner notes, which are a combined interview by @super-deluxe.bsky.social and am just really glad there is someone working on these surround sound projects who gets what we’d like to read. Very interesting interview with them talking about each track.

I noticed that the last time I went through the other month. I used to be able to call up John Gritz to fix that stuff, but alas no more.

Something weird is going on with the monitor reflection - likely time to finally replace it...
