People pulled camp chairs into a meadow at Marshall Pass, pointed them west, and waited for it to get dark. We joined Dark Sky Salida for their free Star Party on August 1, where the CDT and Colorado Trail run together. No telescope needed. Just a clear night and patience.

Three weeks in the backcountry. Our GAOA Trail Crew camped inside the San Pedro Parks Wilderness so every morning started at the work. No motors allowed in wilderness, so the blowdowns came out with a crosscut saw. 17 miles of the CDT, left better than they found it.
