We cannot support an expansion of a system that has proven rife with abuse, especially when the administration is actively dismantling critical worker protections. As a matter of principle, temporary visas should not be used to fill permanent jobs.

Today from me: The Trump administration is squeezing almost every legal immigration path into the U.S. Except one: H-2A visas for guest farmworkers. That program is getting cheaper and easier to use. The problem is, it's long been plagued with labor abuses.

Many employers who have been pushing for expanded guestworker programs due to their labor shortage concerns don’t seem to be speaking out about TPS terminations or other de-documentation efforts. For them, a temporary workforce with fewer protections and less bargaining power appears more convenient
