If you’ve ever wanted to listen to someone read just the picture section of a spy memoir out loud, here is your chance. Guest starring me!

They blocked Camille. That’s how Bluesky limits QTs: no one can see the original post anymore.

I messed up with some clippers once and had to shave my head as a result. My friend told me I looked “like a mean, little asshole.” My head was always cold.

That’s true: I think most of my problems with the movie boil down to pacing/editing.

The ending credits for Dean Koontz’s Phantoms, which is a real turd of a film, include a credit for the movie’s “helmet boy,” which sounds more like an epithet than an actual job.

“I didn’t come here to touch base… I came here to jump it!” I scream, revealing my hidden wing suit and hurling myself out the meeting room window in one swift motion. “The coolest thing I ever saw,” a coworker declares at the memorial luncheon a week later.

Went to the Teardown hardware conference in Portland today. Saw some really inspirational talks! Made me feel like maybe I’m not too stupid to build stuff instead of just fumbling through basic repairs.

I have played, owned, wrenched on and in general thought a lot about pinball tables for the last couple of decades. But it never occurred to me that the business proposition was actually this simple. From www.designroom.site/the-addams-f...
A screenshot of an interview that reads:

“Pat Lawlor (pinball designer, Williams Bally): A pinball machine is a ball bearing rolling around on a piece of wood. You get three minutes to get their attention. They put their money in, and you give them three minutes, and in that amount of time, you have to get them to understand this thing could be a lot more fun if you just put more money in it. That's a lot easier for me to say than it is to do. And the people at Williams were geniuses at doing it.“

The cover of this Mega-CD game gets my ass every time.
The cover of The IIIrd World War for the Mega-CD. It features caricatures of Bill Clinton and Saddam Hussein smiling and shaking hands.

Ok yeah, Kermit works great going from OS X to this DOS PC. Wasn’t even bad to configure.

You know, I forgot this thing had some kind of BNC connector Ethernet card in it when I got it. It’s pretty beat up but might work if I figure out cabling.

Is there a less stupid way to transfer a 12mb directory between a Mac and DOS PC than a USB to serial cable and Kermit on both ends?

I guess Rust-oleum gray primer is the exact same color as the inside of this early ‘90s computer case! I initially treated the rust spots with Rust-oleum gel which discolored things but you can’t even tell where I touched up with the primer now.

Turns out it’s an AMD 386SX-40. The elements and leaking Varta backup capacitor have had their way with the case, board, and floppies, but I’m optimistic we can get things working again.
The motherboard, which I think is from Pine Technologies.Corrosion inside the caseA closeup of the Varta. You can see a lot of dust and corrosion.
