I didnt read any books or tie myself to any 'parenting theory' and they're still alive. I'm a teacher and over the years I've realised that a lot of the very clever new ideas just aren't actually very good, or backed by much evidence at all. 'Ignore it all' will hopefully see me to retirement. 🤞

I knew nothing about this till I saw it in passing on Googlebox, couldn't compute why i was seeing gove, as PM, sturgeon and bizarrely Jim Murphy sitting round a table. Very bizarre but watching it now. Are they acting with a script or is it like a celebrity politician escape room type thing?

I've read lots of things about trump but this really just explains it

He won't have watched it to the end

People are calling it AI slop because they really don't like it. Call it a lable or argument, an unfollow is an unfollow.

Interesting to see the return to the 'strivers Vs scroungers' rhetoric of the early 2010s, as the number of small boats crossing goes down.

Imagine being poor / unemployed / out of work / in poor health (take your pick) and thinking the party that is getting donations from billionaires will work in your favour once they're in government 😂😂😂

I was 17, last night of the Edinburgh fringe so clubs were open till 5/6 am and im pretty sure we found out from the newspapers waiting on the doorsteps of newsagents on the way home. I think they said she was injured though not dead.

As a teacher I really couldn't be less surprised by this conclusion.

Sky news report last week on the early release scheme - whole 2nd half of the segment was farage press conference, sitting there like he was PM, saying they would send prisoners to el Salvador, keep courts open all day (?) etc - this party has 7 MPs?! Why are they always getting so much coverage?!

CC @cd246.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
I thought just last week the amount of coverage this story was getting seemed unnecessary and disproportionate. Awful.

There is something very weird about how all he women around trump all have a very similar look.

The government need to be much more vocal in calling this what it is. Andy Burnham cannot pander and placate and normalise by being silent or he will go the same way as starmer. He needs to remember this is a loud but very small minority.

It is a great idea but needs to be executed and funded well. As a teacher I see many kids staying on till 18 being pushed through academic subjects for no reason other than a lack of alternatives. But it could also be used to 'write off' the more difficult pupils if done badly.

CC @cd246.bsky.social · 02/08/2026
Yes sorry but just because I live next to a factory / data centre / shopping mall (housing usually cheaper next to these types of employers) I don't want my kids education being focussed on preparing them for those jobs. How depressing.

Yes my dad was categorised as a 'woodwork' kid in the 50s and essentially written off by the education system (very poor working class background). Left school with nothing but got himself into uni at 30 and got a first class degree. Ability was not the issue.

Why did so many arrive on the same day?

The 'blame everything on immigrants' approach of Johnson, may, sunak, the daily mail, etc has resulted in this open racism and hatred. All to save their own inept political skins. How do they sleep at night. I've never been so embarrassed to be Scottish, I thought naively we were above this.

It's the trump playbook though - any official investigation or criticism is called a witch hunt or fake news which their cult-like followers believe.

Although both my own local council and the one I work in have both stopped using it, the Scottish and UK governments are still actively posting on it which I find unbelievable.

Yes this is the constant argument in Scotland re baby boxes, tuition fees, prescription charges etc (despite the fact many of these have to be applied for) whilst the same people cry poverty if they're taxed a bit more or have to pay more for their kids private school fees. Individualism I suppose.

About what? Labour policies benefitted the working class, who maybe need reminded of that a bit more. Current Labour naval gazing about how to win back the working class vote by talking about the politics of the 70s and trying to out-Reform Reform clearly isn't working. Dealing in facts might.

Surely if you haven't produced evidence after 6 years it means there is none? You can't just say it's there and not show anyone it? Why isn't that your story and headline?

Are Americans not seeing these clips?

And i'm the grand daughter of a Lanarkshire miner and he would be turning in his grave seeing what's happened to this modern 'working class'.

14 years of austerity and years of Thatcher didn't do them good no, neither anything to do with labour. He better not obsess about winning them over, unless he gets some semblance of a balanced, factual media back it's not going to happen as they seem happy to blame it all on immigrants.

These people do not understand what 'the establishment' means. People are just getting really stupid.

He got less than half the vote on a poor turn out. If everyone who doesn't like him votes for the same person he will lose.

I think she is pointing out the pattern of females being held to a higher standard than males when they get more scrutiny than the actual male culprit because there are multiple examples of this.

They had 4 years to get some evidence and forensic tents outside her house. Sometimes if theres no evidence of something it could actually mean it didn't happen.

Anyone who thinks Nicola sturgeon would risk jail and humiliation at the height of her career for fancy pens needs their head read.

This is exactly it, journalist on Media Show on R4 last week saying they just don't engage if they're going to be asked difficult questions so it's impossible really to hold them to account. Said the media is too biased against them so they'll only do interviews that 'show both sides'

I'm Scottish and teach politics - why are there so many candidates? Does this not split the vote too thin for any meaningful mandate?
110
CC @cd246.bsky.social · 27/05/2026
He is the least self aware person ever. Why he is on national radio giving advice to the Labour party is beyond me - he seemingly doesn't realise it was him that ruined them.
010
CC @cd246.bsky.social · 16/05/2026
I assume some other jobs might be the same but teachers are not allowed to have personal social media made public? Are they just not allowed into the USA any more??
000
CC @cd246.bsky.social · 15/05/2026
Been saying this for years. Certainly when they picked starmer as leader and refused to support a confirmatory vote on Brexit to 'make the party electable'
010
CC @cd246.bsky.social · 12/05/2026
Can we stop calling anything left of Wes streeting hard left? This is why labour is in this pickle. Look how 'we need to make the party electable' has turned out.
010
CC @cd246.bsky.social · 12/05/2026
They have seriously lost the plot even considering him. On what basis do they think he is what people want?? He won by 500 votes and is unlikeable. And the opposite of what traditional labour vote base wants. They just aren't getting it at all.
000
CC @cd246.bsky.social · 12/05/2026
Appalling, utterly appalling. Said casually as if it were fact. And got the same tokenistic 'he might challenge that' as when she mentioned farage taking a £5b undeclared bribe! Which is fact! They need to replace the BBC board asap.
010
CC @cd246.bsky.social · 11/05/2026
Also extremely unlikeable for some reason and won his seat by 528 votes.
000
CC @cd246.bsky.social · 11/05/2026
They cannot seriously be thinking of Wes streeting 🤦🏻‍♀️
010
CC @cd246.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
Yes it would
010
CC @cd246.bsky.social · 09/05/2026
Yes, it is. But will lead to more seats for parties like reform and less for parties like labour
100
CC @cd246.bsky.social · 09/05/2026
No, but that's a different thing you're talking about now - the point was about labours very reform-like policy of making people wait 20 years to get leave to remain, and you suggested that type of approach is what most people want and it isn't. Not sure how much more evidence labour need for this.
110
CC @cd246.bsky.social · 09/05/2026
And here is the problem - everyone certainly does not agree on immigration. 🤦🏻‍♀️ It's nowhere neary top issue, in fact I think we should we welcoming people here with our dramatically ageing population. So who do you mean when you say 'everyone'?

When starmer gave a speech to the country saying the UK was at risk of becoming a nation of strangers what about that?
100
CC @cd246.bsky.social · 09/05/2026
TV news is supposed to be completely unbiased! Its a travesty that programme is even allowed on air. Starmer doesnt even correct reform politicians publicly when they openly lie. Why hasn't BBC board been replaced? Voter ID reversed? Farage held accountable for the £5m?
