I think some of it comes from the fact you played and experimented with AI a lot in private, so you picked up on what parts of code it does well and what it doesn't do well, so you naturally "fix" the issues it has and only look at the code that you didn't HAVE to fix.

To be fair, its pretty hard to followup one of the (generally agreed on) greats in the genre. They did it with Tokimemo 2 and then failed hard with Tokimemo 3. Which is said as they are also arguably the reason the genre became as well known as it is.

I always read it as "canon event" kind of thing. Basically the timeline "fixes" itself as necessary. If it doesn't need to fix itself, then you just followed a "canon event". If you change something in the past that caused you to change a "canon event", the timeline adjusts itself.
