Attempts to retire have so far failed. Astrophotography on a budget, general photography, music, tech, interesting facts, all things quirky. Try to avoid politics but sometimes can't resist.

He's not authentic. What 'beliefs' he appears to have are driven by focus groups and the special interests that sponsor him. He lied when he was elected as party leader and it's been downhill ever since.

This week, Aloka has officially reunited with the monks on the Walk for Peace. Still recovering from recent surgery, he'll mostly ride in the car until fully healed. The Peace Team is also carefully monitoring the weather and has contingency plans in place if needed - currently in NC.🐾 #hedgewatch

I would not be surprised if their climate denial is to ensure the glaciers melt faster to access the mineral reserves underneath.

It's for reasons like this that I resigned my Labour membership and joined the Greens, who seem to have a better grasp of reality and a decent set of moral values.

Let's just say colonising Mars is successful. What sort of society would it be? How pleasant would it be for a regular worker to live there?

It's about empowering and legitimizing the far right, with elections coming in Germany. They know exactly what they are doing.

They may act stupid, but I don't think they are stupid (with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions). Breaking stuff is part of the plan, the super rich can thrive on chaos.

Chris Eccles @cceuk.bsky.social · 02/02/2025
I think a tipping point has been reached where it is no longer possible for a politician to be elected who does not follow the extreme neoliberal narrative. The ultra rich are in control now.

Chris Eccles @cceuk.bsky.social · 01/02/2025
Yes, we must call out the lies, but that won't change hearts and minds. We need a new compelling narrative that isn't just another flavour of neoliberalism. Where is it?

He's just taking forward the neoliberal agenda and creating smokescreens to do so. Neoliberals regard democracy as a hindrance to their objectives. George Monbiot's book The Invisible Doctrine sums it all up very nicely.

NEW: Why do we always think crime is rising, even when it isn’t? This week I looked at one of the big data mysteries. Britain is 2/3 less violent than the 1990s; thefts were higher pre-lockdown Why, then, doesn’t it feel like it? 1/8 @thetimes.com 🔗 www.thetimes.com/article/b63d...

Well said. The electorate didn't vote for Labour, they voted against the Conservatives. There's a big difference. If Labour doesn't deliver significant change, what's happening now in the US will happen here in 2029.

It seems to me that #socialmedia platforms go through a four stage lifecycle: 1 User Growth - a new friendly platform grows its user base. Good times. 2. Engagement growth - algorithms take over to maintain financial growth. 3. Chaos - bots move in. 4. Collapse - people leave to a new platform.
