Not even going to look into this. Lack of housing > rampant homelessness > floundering local dems > depressed Dem turnout. All conjecture, all guesses, all probably correct.

What about shitting in the dryer, drying it, then vacuuming the chunks up and then disposing them in the trash like a civilized person?

Evil manifests in very complex ways, but the people committing the evil are very transparent and almost cartoonishly obvious.

A hypothetical mechanical engineer job for Deere in Chicago would pay $90k vs a Deere job in Moline that would probably pay $120k, because Moline is ass… This is conjecture, and all hypothetical of course. Long story short, economic development is very hard and complicated.

All these yuppy engineers and professional college educated employees want to live in Indy, Chicago, Detroit, etc. that’s why they take these jobs in the sticks because the employers have to throw a lot of money at you and force you to “sacrifice” urban life. Weeding out the “casual workers”.

I can say anecdotally as an engineer is that, employers will gladly use WFH as an excuse to keep wages stagnate these days. It’s become more common. Not to mention these no-where’s-ville companies that do not have large talent pools nearby have inflationary effects on wages due to lack of supply.

Most mechanical engineers that work at Deere work remotely and live in Chicago or not even the Midwest. Indiana and Illinois are basically the same state one just has way more entropy, the other tax breaks, and even then Illinois has tax breaks/incentives for their major industries to stay.

Is AI going to be helpful at making architectural renderings, municipal labor, and detecting tumors? Absolutely. Is it going to plan everyone’s vacation, become people’s lawyers and pay back its investors in the trillions? No

This is so bad. The income part is particularly jarring. If you’re 6’3 as a woman you eventually have to accept that most of the people you are compatible with are going to be shorter than you… You’re self selecting to a point where there are 5 ppl that meet your standard and pray you are compatble

I get it. Unfortunately for me I have a ton of respect for people who live in Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Minneapolis.

Meanwhile, between the value of the home, equity, and fees avoided by owning will have paid off that $7k repair by the months end.

You’d think with how high property taxes are in Illinois, current homeowners would want a building boom. Unless they all plan on leaving at some point?

I work at the locks in Sault Ste Marie. There’s about 80 freighters that pass through the locks every year making about 7000 trips in a season. The Oberstar despite being built in 1959, is capable of unloading itself very quickly which is a major cost saver, which is why it’s still around.

This but also Western Democracies want to control thought and freedom of speech before they roll back civil liberties.

Idk where you’re at but most people in Marquette, Sault Sainte Marie, and St. Ignace from my experience speak with a “regular” north-central Midwestern accent There are a decent amount of people with the “oh-don’t-chya-know” accent, to your point. (I live in Sault Ste. Marie and am from Aurora IL)

Even taking this statement at face value. If one of the extremes is not controlled by Capital and monied interests, they are more likely to deliver to their constituency.
