Columbus voters will consider Issue 5 on the May ballot, focused on creating a long-term approach to alternative crisis response. The measure would support clinician-led teams for certain nonviolent mental health calls and make them an ongoing part of the city’s response.

This keeps us moving forward. The [ballot measure] keeps us all honest and ensures that alternative crisis response is not something that you add in and out of a budget because it is something that is expected from the residents, codified by a vote of the people.
