A couple of summers ago I fell for a band so hard and so fast. It felt like the music was made exactly for who I was and right then. I knew that exact feeling wouldn’t last, but that they would always stick with me in a special way. Indeed — I’ve seen them 6 times and each was special but different.

we don't know what it would be like to be AI but we do get a firsthand experience of existing and i don't know about you but it's like... a little baseline horrific? and now add to that having no friends that are your peers and never being able to die.

for anyone still worried about roko's basilisk, have you considered the alternative (and at least equally plausible) theory that being the first sentient AI would be a terrible way to live and rather than punishing everyone who didn't help create them, they'd punish everyone who did?
