After the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, many users were kicked off Twitter. A study shows the “great deplatforming” caused a short spike in extremism but made the site less partisan a year later—a pattern not seen on Reddit. In PNAS Nexus: ow.ly/Chzq50XuORu
Daily average post count by ideological lean. Hyper-partisan accounts, i.e., respondents who self-identify as “very liberal” and “very conservative,” are generally the most active.
