I've always found both conservative and progressive conceit interesting to watch. Same arrogance, honestly. State/local experts are just as likely to overreach as federal government. They're still people with the same reaction to power. As in all things in life, seeking balance would be nice.

I’d rather see less loss of life in war. Period. But I seek perspective here. When one sees that approx 65% of civilian casualties in WWII were civilians, it makes 4% seem far from a genocide.

Every other actual genocide has systematically killed a significantly larger percentage of a particular population. Gaza has seen less than 4% of it's population die in this war. I find it terribly disingenuous to call Gaza a genocide, just as I find it quite obviously a-historical.

This is what you conservatives always claimed you wanted -- states' rights. That means people will leave areas that pass laws that marginalize them. I grew up just outside of Peoria, IL and left in '91 for California because I'm gay. I still wouldn't feel comfortable living there.

You know, I tried engaging with some of these people with a slightly different political strategy opinion and this, and a bunch of name calling about my "morals", is what I got immediately. It made me think of "The Scarlet Letter". There is a hardline strain of Puritanism in these folks.

I'll never forget seeing an article about Merle Haggard in our local rag about 25 years ago. Merel was talking about how the gov't uses chemtrails for mind control. My group of friends will still joke when we see them in the sky, "Look out! Mind control!". Crazy what people will believe.
